It came around 4:00 yesterday and I didn't stop playing until about 9:30 last night. In comparison to my green stripe I have (caution cliche use ahead) the III+ has a more organic feel to it. The harmonic content is much richer and the low end seems to be firmer. The highs are also extended but not shrill. I'm not sure if this due to the diference in stripes or not. The + used to be a purple stripe. All in all, I'll be using this amp as my main rig and the green stripe will be a back up. I was really pleased with the green when I got it in proper working order and was proud to say I'm a Boogie owner. Since the III+ though, I can't stop grinnin'!! Look at me, gushing like a little school girl :!: The diference IS very audible as well as how it reacts to picking. I would have to say to anyone that is in the position to get a III+ to DO IT!!!!! The last amp I had that gave me the response and sound like this one was a Fuchs TDS 100 that I had last year. I wouldn't call it a dead nuts comparison but they are playing in the same park together. Anyway, I'll stop with the gitty display. I can't help that I am truly a PROUD Boogie owner!!!! :) :D

Gush on, there is no shame here in the forum  Oh yea, I gushed myself when i played my Mark III after having my .50 Cal for a while

Hey, seriously - congrats to you. Now try to sleep on a regular basis while you start finding all the ways this new family member of yours can sound - I dare you ... 8)

Nice man... that sounds awesome! I have a couple questions for anyone with answers:

1) Are there limitations to which stripe Mark III's this mod can be added to?

2) What is included in the III+ mod?

1) No

2) Tons of secret stuff

Glad to hear you like the mod. I should be getting my back in a few weeks. I am getting the mod down on an early
Mark III with the 105 transformer. You just made my wait a little longer. :D

I appreciate all the response guys. I would have responded earlier, but I've been playing for the last 5 1/2 hours!!!!!! Honestly. It has yet to sound bad. I've played around with a few NOS pre's that I've collected thru the years. I currently have some 60's RCA black plates in v 1-3. I put a liitle of everything in it and each time I change brands it takes on a whole new charecter. You know you have a quality amp when it brings out the details of various tube types. I havent got around to power tubes yet but from what I've heard thus far I don't think I need to. It has the Mesa 440'2 in it for now. I've been everywhere from Hammet to Holdsworth to Hendrix to Haynes to whoever else has an H name with bad ass tone!!! It's in there!!!

I can feel the excitement in the air man!

I know exactly how your feeling in regards to the sound of the III. I don't even have a modded one and I'm still in all my glory. Funny thing, I'm in the works of getting my 2nd III..should have it in a few weeks. I'll be running (2) III's together. I was playing around today with my current III and have yet found more tones to play with that are completely blowing my mind. I came across a balance today that has that hard hitting tight crunch using more mids then I'm normally use to ( but find it works very nice with the III), but also rolling back off the guitar volume I'm able to obtain a real Holdsworth sound..or even ala Steve Morse. I'm using my 00' PRS Standard 24 ( all mahogany neck through) that really helps make this amp sing beautifully. I've been at the guitar for 24+ years and pretty sure I haven't owned an amp that sings like the one I own. I use the supplied reverb on 3-4 to thicken it up a bit as well. These are quite the amps...and always learning something new through each tweak.

All the Best,
~Nep~

I was considering running both of mine as well. I like a darker middy kind of clean with a little sheen on top and to dial that in it really makes the lead suffer. I was contemplating one for clean and one for MEAN  I haven't even tried my diferent cabs yet. I have been jammin on my 4x12 with G12-65s. I have theile, a Tone Tubby, and my HardTruckers yet to go!!! Ah the possibilities

Funny-- I mentioned running both heads like that back in another thread.
I've been running mine through my 4x12 with the loaded gt-75s. I love it!

fwiw I have a green stripe and it doesn't have the same feel or response as the III+. As soon as I come up with the $$$ I'll send it in for the + mod!! Unfortunately it has got me gassing for a IIc+!!
