I just got a Roadster 2X12 Combo recently and also picked-up a MXR Kerry King 10-Band EQ upon recommendation here on the board to get a MXR EQ 10-Band EQ. The KFK-1 is really phenomenal. I am still tweaking the frequencies - but would like to hear from other MXR EQ users on their actual settings. I have cut the 125Hz band to reduce bass mud as suggested.

Does anyone care to share their actual settings band-by-band? Or even better - post a photo of their pedal. Would be great to compare settings.

i got a question too about mxr GEQ :

is it as effective in front of the amp as it is in the effect loop ?

is it as effective in front of the amp as it is in the effect loop ?

As effective? Yes

As drastic/dramatic? No

In front of the amp it changes your guitars eq but in the loop it is after the preamp eq so it can change it much more drastically.

As for the settings i just use what is in the guide for a metal sound but i make everything a little exaggerated.

i just bought one for 50€ :D

can't wait to try it... i hope it's gonna be great in front of the amp 'caus i don't want to have miles of cable... and i don't think my turbo rat will be at the right place in the effect loop...

i tried both loop and in front... i'll let it in front of the amp... more simple, differences are not very important...

this pedal is very effective... but it's not that easy to set ! it will take weeks and weeks before i find the good settings... easy to find a good sound alone... but when the band play i'm lost in the mix... work work work work !

If you're getting lost in the mix, your problem is most likely that, when playing alone, you're setting the EQ to give a pronounced mid-scoop sound, which will all but disappear with a band playing around you.

As another helpful idea, you might post which frequencies the King EQ actually governs, and what specific sound you are trying to achieve. That way, suggestions might be made to help get you closer.

if you mean by "mid-scoop" boosting bass and treble and cut the mids, this is really not the way i set my tone... i'm definately a middle man ! :D

Again, if you'll post the actual frequencies the EQ lets you adjust, and what sound you are trying to achieve, it may not take you weeks and weeks to find a good sound. It might just take a couple of minutes reading a post. What kind of music is your band playing that causes you to get lost in the mix? If you truly do have a mid emphasis in your tone, you shouldn't be getting lost in the mix at all unless your overall volume is simply too low in comparison to the rest of the band.
