On a tangent... I don't understand the "guitar god" status that has been bestowed(by guitar magazines) upon him. He's a better than marginal player... What am I missing? He's no RR, Gilbert, Jake E, or Becker...

I agree man, it's like they all found him again.....for some reason

I think it is a conspiracy on behalf of the Osbournes. They can generate more interest if they can make more of Ozzy's guitarist no matter who it is. It just helps that he has been around for a while now. His slight tweak on the Ozzy tunes was a good change at the time. I think he has taken things a little overboard though. He was the right guy in the right place at the right time. He was marketable. Personally I liked Gillis' tone. I liked RR's innovation. I liked Jake E's vibe. I like Wylde's former presence and current attitude on life.

Zakk is one of my favorite guitarists but I wish he would shut his big stupid mouth. Last black label show I went to, in San Francisco, felt like a KKK rally more than a metal show. And Zakk was up there saying '****** this' and '****** that'. It was a real let down and my fiance, who I brought to the show, was just freaked out by the whole thing. We ended up leaving early and I doubt I'll go to one of his shows ever again.

Dopeman, I feel the same way. The first BLS show I went to Zakk seemed like a really cool guy. The second BLS show I went to he seemed like an uneducated a**hole. The last show I went to was at the warfield and Zakk blew his voice out. So he didn't talk or sing much... I prefer that Zakk the most

Dave Mustains Axxion guitar is just hideous.
I went to Gigantour got all the way up front waiting to be slaughtered by stacks of Marshalls... and the roadies are rolling on Line 6! that was a BIG disappointment.

Endorsements...

Just to clarify and validate my statement above. I like ZW's take no sh!t and speak his mind behavior regardless of how much anyone dislikes it. Being PC isn't really what RnR is about. I do not believe in some of his views but his self-righteousness is appealing in the sense of his becoming iconic. I grew up in LA amongst all the turmoil that LA is. I had friends from all walks of life. I knew racists, anti-semitics, gay bashers, you name it from all sides. I know it takes all kinds. I know the Bay area isn't the smartest place to spout off against any alternate lifestyle but there again he was just being himself. I respect people that can be themselves even in the face of imposing doom. For the sake of RnR, he was just doing what he does.

I was a punk. I was offensive. So what. I hung out with "good ol' boys" in "the South" for a few years afterwards. They are people too. I don't necessarily condone some of their actions but I respect the fact that they can have their own beliefs. I feel the same way about just about everyone. I don't pick a group, with me it is more individualized. I might still apply a label to someone but it is more of an accentuation of the fact that the individual is the epitome of what the pejorative label implies. I have really mellowed out since I was younger. I guess it is maturity and humanity setting in. AHHH WTF!!! Before, I was a live fast, die young kind of guy. I think I'm burnt out on that somewhat.

Well, maybe not...

Don't get me wrong I'm a fan of Zakk, love his attitude, but less verbal garbage would be nice. He does have positives to his shows support the troops/freedom, without god+family=you ain't got sh!t. Sometimes for me, just shut up and play...

If a company offered to design pedals to my taste i'd endorse those products. I do like the epip ZW guitars. I wouldn't call ZW an endorsement whore. I've never played the gibson version.

DM stopped using Jackson because the company sold to fender, and not him. As for as the rest of his switching around I'm clueless.

I hear kids complain about sell outs, but there usually the ones in the bands that play metalcore. Every metalcore show i've been each band sounded like they played one very long song. So if you have 4 bands you have 4 different songs.

Zack is Zack....he doesnt take **** and shows respect where its due. As for DM..... he's a cry baby who still can't handle the fact that he ****** up the biggest gig in the last 25 years.... i don't blame het and lars for kicking his ass out because if he's as two faced as he appears in the media.. or dare i say it in some kinda monster, then he deserves what he's gotten.... i'm not taking anything away from megadeth because i love them (just not as much as Metallica)..... but how can you go around being such a whiny bitch when you've been in one of the most coveted metal bands of all time, made loads of money, and play guitar for a living? Come on Dave wake up.....

As for him going to L6.... well he's played the prophecy for years and apparently from what has been said around the L6 forum is that this amp he's been scene playing is their new flagship..... so either a Vetta 3 or a replacement for the vetta series..... anyhow when i saw them last year they sounded crazy good..... one of the tightest, heaviest sets i've seen in a while

and not really even that different.

his new amp not a vetta 3, it's only does 3 amp models i think, and his favorite effects.

right but there has been some rumors on the l6 forum that it might be the platform for l6 to build a vetta3 on or a new flagship model... again just rumors

BTW anyone think the whole mustaine having nerve damage thing that was suppose to sideline him from playing for the rest of his life sound like a gimmick now... not to say he didnt have nerve damage but the fact he made such a big deal about it when it happened.... then all of asudden he comes out blazing, probably better than ever.... and then he starts the metallica bash session? man i cant wait for the day mustaine and kerry king give it up... atleast mustaine can play though.... he comes up with some great **** i just hate his personality.... king on the other hand is just a loser.... he has so much skill but cant write a song to save his life.... he will always live in the shadow of metallica and not because they are more skilled than him.... they just wrote incredible songs (pre black album)... one the less.... kings a loser and mustain is a cry baby

he will always live in the shadow of metallica

To be honest with you, *all* of the american metal bands from the 80s live in the shadow of Metallica (anthrax, slayer, megadeth,...etc...etc...). There was a great quote from Metallica- after they released the black album, some kids come up yelling at them "you guys sold out" Lars responded, "we sell out every night"....

Zakk is still a POSER!

I say that when Steve Vai admires your alternate picking speed, vibrato and note articulation you're not a poser but that's just me. Zakk is great at what he does I just wish he'd hire a singer because watching Nick Catanese and Zakk double track a solo live is a sight to see. I also liked his singing waaaaaaaay more up to and including 1919 Eternal. With The Blessed Hellride he decided he should emulate Osbourne which I really don't understand.

I saw the video of Dave Mustaine & his Line6 amps on Youtube. He acted like a dick (as usual), but it was pretty cool how he explained it all in-depth. I enjoyed that, and respected that he took the time out to explain it all, even thought he was of course endorsing the amp (at least he was honest about the endorsement).
