Can any of you MKV - G Major 2 users out there tell me if that rack unit controls switching for the effects loop, the solo feature, and all three amp channels?

The g Major 2 only has 2 control jacks so no you wouldn't be able to do that if you wanted to control all the amp functions and effects patches at the same time you would want to go with an audio switcher like the GCX or RG 16 and a midi foot control like the Ground Control Pro or LiquidFoot.

Thanks for the info. I now see that I would need the ground control Pro plus a connecting cable.

So the 2 control jacks of the G Major 2 could handle switching between the three amp channels on the MKV, but have nothing left over to switch the effects loop or the solo feature on and off. So in order to get the additional functionality to switch those two features I would need $400 more in equipment for the GCX plus a connecting cable! I am beginning to see that going this route is starting to add up fa$t. What other equipment in addition to the GM2, GCP and GCX am I likely to need?

depending on what kind of pedals or other effects you have you'll need cables to connect them all through the GCX loops.

I recommend the RJM Mini Amp Gizmo. Works perfect. I assume you have a midi pedal for the GM2 and the MKV footswitch. The gizmo would eliminate the need for the amps footswitch and you can switch through everything with just the single midi pedal. Works perfect for me.

I don't yet have a midi pedal. What do you use or what do you think about the RJM Mastermind?

What he said.I bought the rocktron midi-mate for the foot controller and it is bliss. So when you're done geeking on dialing in tones on the boogie-you can add another 3 months of tweaking effects hehe. For the money I'm not seeing the rocktron midi-mate being beaten.
Edit-Not sure how much surfing you've done here but for the amp gizmo-you will need to buy the adapter cable from rjm(for the mark V).I wound up getting the mini amp gizmo&the adapter cable from the evil bay. From Tour supply more specifically.I actually ordered the amp gizmo and they sent the mini amp gizmo(which is more than you will need). They refunded the difference without prejudice.Peace

I wanted to ask the same question the OP had. Question: like the RJM, would not you hook up ch 2 and ch3 to the GM2 and it would default to ch1? then ya just need a GC Pro? maybe I am confused.

I think you're right, however you will only be able to switch between the three amp channels. You will not be able to switch the EQ, reverb, solo, mute/tuner. We will therefore need something like RJ-16, amp gizmo, or mini amp gizmo all of which can handle eight or more switches.

G-major 2 being a multieffects the solo, tuner, eq, reverb are all pretty much covered by the unit. I wouldn't think the Mark V ones bring any significant difference?!

Actually with the amp gizmo, you can control the eq-verb-channels-solo boost.Tis pretty dreamy man.If you have the gmajor2...you need the amp gizmo AND a midi pedal. This is the setup I wish I would have had back in say...1989 rofl/.Oyeah...I think it controls the mute function as well. But you wont need it as you will have a noisegate *shrugs*
Aye I am impressed with the gmajor2 almost as much as I am with the mark v itself. And I owe it all to you guys hehe. And while I am at it...I should mention that I read somewhere here that the relays on the gmajor2 are a big no no with the mark series.I could be wrong but maybe someone will chime in with the facts.

If that is true then for people like me it would be fine as I never really use Reverb, solo, and mute. Plus I leave em all on sliders and set the sliders not to pre-set anymore. So would I just leave the EQ ON all channels and be good to go? Will email TC and see what they say. I just set my sliders, leave the eq switch set as always ON and good to go. Plus the GM2 has some great reverbs I heard. Hmmmmm getting interesting. As I read somewhere on the reviews of GM2 on HC that the GM2 has the exact SAME FX circuitry as the G system so you got the same FX but way lower price.. Decisions Decisions.....
