Would I be able to go with a ground control pro to a g major to a GRX4 (or CFX4) and be able to switch channels with effects with a one button stomp on my MKIV?

The basic answer to your question is, yes. The CFX4 can be used to act just like the 6 button footswitch. You can switch channels and effects with 1 press of button with the right equipment (midi footpedal, midi controlled effects processor, and midi amp channel switcher).
I would have to imagine that the CFX4 is the cheapest option (about $210 with custom mark4 cable) and is small enough to zip tie inside the rack case.
