MkIII owners, read this

I heard one way to drain caps is to turn power off and standby to play and let it sit for a few hours, don't know exactly how long though.

how do you drain the caps?

I connect the capacitor to jumper cables and then to my clothes dryer and dry clothes until it's drained. :lol:

Most amps have a draining resistor. Unplug the amp, turn the Standby to the 'Play' position and leave it for a while.
Make sure you have a good meter to check it with. It's DC, so a cheap meter or an inductance wand (Screamer) won't tell you if it still has a charge or not. It really hurts too, not like AC.

I think what you might have heard is this:

Turn on the amp and hit a good strong chord, then unplug the amp from the wall without hitting any switches. Keep hitting this chord repeatedly until there is no sound coming from the speaker. This will not completely drain the caps, but it should get you out of the "fatality zone" if you happen to become a path to ground.
:shock: Be very careful anytime you are inside the chassis of a tube amp.
