The 4x12 Halfback,
The "80s style" 4x12 w/metal grill,
Or the Mark series 4x12
I assume these are the same cabinet.

Well since Mesa no longer makes this cabinet and its hard for me to find one around where I live. I am forced to make one, but not to worry! I have all the tools. The only thing I'm missing are the measurements. I need the typical HxWxD of the whole cabinet, and the HxWxD dimensions of just the open part.

If any of you very kind folks here can post some dimensions it would be greatly appreciated. Also your likes an dislikes about the cabinet (if there are any) and anything you wished the cabinet had or didn't. If there is anything about the cabinet I should know about well......let me know.

Thanks!

I would just assume build one too. I too need the dinensions. I have most wood working tools and am a carpenter by trade. I have a friend with a cabinet shop at my disposal too. Man, I just thought of something...

My desire to have nice cabinets, gear, and money + access to a cabinet shop= new venture? Maybe I should start a new cabinet venture. Basson is right around the corner though and Carvin isn't far either. Hmmm, might be hard to break through and get anywhere. I'll have to think about it a little more. I wouldn't mind doing a few though just for my own fun though.

I've still got two. A straight front and a slant front. I'm off work all this week, so if your not in a hurry while I do my "Honey Do" list (Hey! This is supposed to "MY" vacation!), I'll be happy to get some pics and measurements.

Oh, there's not much I don't like about them. They're heavy, especially my 4x12 EVM cab, that's it. They sound awesome (I am trying to sell mine so take this for what it's worth). The EVM 4x12 is a better sounding cab than the 2x MC90/2x Vintage 50 cab. I closed the top of the 4x EVM and it really tightened that cab up. The Thiles get close enough without all the weight, since I don't pay out that often lately. If I was still playing out all the time there's no way I would sell that EVM cab.

Sorry guys, I haven't forgotten you. I've been super busy at work, plus I've been trying to sell a bunch of stuff and buy another house.

I'll go ahead a make a promise to get those measurements either tonight or tomorrow.

Sorry again.

Bob,I pulled the 2 Vintage 50 watters in my top cab, threw in some vintage 30's and did the X pattern thing with the 90's.
I do gotta say thats one deep sounding cab for it's size.
I closed off the top of mine as well. I wasnt sure if the Mesa 90's/vintage 50's were a factory thing. I figured someone scarffed the E.V.'s that were in it but seems that since your post said about that combination then it must be from the Mesa factory.
Noticed your side handles are different than mine...how about your corners..plastic or the newer leather ones?I have a Mesa catolog from 1995 and I think thats close to the last year they made the "metal grill" cabs.....your top cab must be a newer one.
Thanks brudda.

Tonight it is!

Here's the link to a drawing with the measurements. The dashed lines represent a .75"x.75" frame for the back(s).

The front on the cabs looks so large because of a .5" trim piece around the insides. The speakers just slip under the edges of that trim on the sides and on the bottom.

Full-on of the inside (look at those paint runs! They must just hose 'em down with paint! )

The bracing. A similar horizontal piece runs the length of the top at the front edge. The brace are .75"x2"

Hope these help.

The way I understand it, Mesa made the Mark series cabs one of three ways:

All EV
EV/MC-90
Vintage50/MC-90

As far as my side handles go, I've never seen one (Mk series) with anything but the knife edge ones like on both of mine (Geez, what were thinking putting those thin handles on some of the heaviest cabs built?). There may be different ones but mine are all I've ever seen up close,

Plastic corners.

I would of guessed my cabs were somewhere mid 80's to mid 90's. I couldn't tell you.

Yes, Thank you very much...

I think I know what I will be doing the next time I get out to the local hardwood lumber store.

Now to find someone that will measure their Theile cabinet including the port.

Thank you! yes these will help

I didn't expect a drawing and the pics! I really appreciate it!

Thanks :D

Not a problem. Sorry it took so long.

I thought the only was to get complete measurements was to take the backs off and I thought, "Well, as long as the backs are off, I might as well take some pics, too.).

I gotta wonder if because of the "knife edge" handles ,that someone got smart on mine and swapped them for an old pair of metal Marshall ones.
