Hey there everybody, it's great to finally be a mesa owner! I just bought a mesa roadster off of ebay, and was wondering if you all could help me out with something. The amp I purchased off of ebay clearly showed that it had handles on the side, but the amp I received does not have any handles. Does this mean it is an older model or something? If so, I need to confront the guy I bought it from.

Thanks,
Brian

No Roadster has handles on the sides. The only handle is on the top of the amp. They were probably a self add-on from the previous owner.

If you still want them from the guy, you could be entitled to them, but I dunno.

My Roadster was a head, so no side handles, but I recall seeing a combo with them in a store.

You mean the photo in the listing showed handles while the actual amp has none?
It could mean the photo is not of the amp you received. Problematic, IMHO.
There's a Roadster (with floral tolex, no less  ) on eBay right now with side handles, but I agree, they're probably not stock.

that is incorrect. I bought a Roadster 2x12 brand new directly from Mesa in July and it has handles on the sides. This was not something I asked for, it came that way. but I couldn't imagine it without them because this thing weighs at least 100 pounds.

Sorry, you're correct. For a minute I forgot they made Roadster combos, haha.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that this amp is the 2X12 combo version. I was just wondering if there was like a certain year of manufacturing when they started adding handles on the sides of theses beasts. The amp works fine, but I just feel a little ripped off because it's not the amp that I purchased off of ebay. I looked at the auction page again to make sure there were no disclaimers about using actual pictures, and there were none.

Thanks for all the help,
Brian

Awesome find. That's a great amplifier. I believe you can contact ebay about him using false pics. The worst thing that could happen to him is negative feedback from you though. I wouldn't do that to him just because the handles aren't there though. My two cents.
Have a blast with the amp.

Thanks for your responses.
So I confronted the guy about sending me the wrong amp, he basically just apoligized and said that he had about 3 of those amps go through his store in the past month and he must have mixed up the pictures. My biggest concern is that this is an older model and there wont be as much warranty left on the amp as he said there was. I have a call into Mesa to see about that. If that's the case, do you think I should tell him to make it right by refunding some of my money?

Thanks,
Brian

Okay, turns out that the amp he sent me is an older model than the one I thought I was purchasing...May 2006. After talking to Mesa, they started adding the handles on the combos in 2008. I also learned that there is an update for these older model Roadsters that "will ensure the longevity of the amp", which still needs to be done on mine. The seller has agreed to refund some of my money so I am gonna keep this one and get the update done. I was pretty excited that once I transferred the warranty into my name to find out that it's covered till 12/2013 :D

By the way, I love the amp! I just need to kick my wife and kid outta the house for a good couple of hours so I can really crank it up and start finding my gig volume tone. \m/

Thanks,
B

Hmmm, seems like the updates you've mentioned came rolling out when I bought my Roadster head. Cool beans... 8)
