I JUST ORDERED A G MAJOR FOR MY ROADSTER HEAD. I HAVE READ BOTH THAT IT IS AND IS NOT POSSIBLE TO SWITCH AMP CHANNELS WITH IT BECAUSE OF GROUND ISSUES. WHAT CABLES ARE NEEDED?

i had a Gmajor. Mesa told me that it could nt switch the triple rect. some thing to do with Gmajor's relays. i for got.. but you could only controll 2 amp functions..
i just went out an bought a Axess cfx4 and a $25 dollar ROLLS midi buddy.. it does all my switching and gmajor controlling... all at once.. the cfx4 only has four relays.. with the 4 i can controll all my 5 amp funcitons..

If your Roadster has a default channel setting.. you may controll all 4 channels and the effects loop.. not the solo boost.. OR
controll all 4 amp channels and Solo boost and have the LOOP assigned to channels?
i am not too familiar with Roadster... the roadster may have switches to assign the loops to a certain channel.. good luck..

if the cfx4 is too small.. try a used patchmate... they are good enough! plus you get a built in noise gate included.. good luck

I use the Axess CFX4 for channels 1-4, and the relays in the G-Major for FX Loop & Solo.

I've had the reverb switched with the relay in my FCB1010, but since I hardly turn it off anyway I stopped doing that (one less cable out front).

The setup gave me 7 function switchers with one more un-used in the FCB1010.

you will not be able to switch all the channels.
if it would be a rectifier solo head, it would work but not with the roadster- too many channels - less relais.

if you are looking for a good switching modul, take a look at the RJM Amp Gizmo. the Gizmo has 8 switchingoptions and RJM offers special cables for nearly every amp.
so you plug the switchingcable into the footswitch input of the amp and you can easily control all switchingoptinons of the roadster (channels, reverb, solo, loop, mute)
take a look:

yes one cfx4 wouldnt have enough relays.. but these cfx4s were designed to be added to each other for more relay switching.. i think they can be ran in triples..

2 brand new cfx4s are still less expensive than the amp gizmo.. if you can find one on ebay at a good price..

+1

Both companies make great products but the Amp Gizmo gives you the same function as two CFX4s for less money. I have the RG-16 with does the amp switching like the amp gizmo but it also has 8 loops for pedals. Well worth the $$ IMO.

It may take a bit of mucking around but it's not too hard to work around it. and you can use your solo boost too. I use a dual rec with my G maj and have never had a problem with switching. you will obviously need more relays to switch more channels. This is my set up I use a y splitter cable (stereo 1/4 jack to two mono 1/4 jacks) one mono jack into ch 1 and the other into ch 3 on the back of the amp. this allows me to switch all 3 channels. Theoretically there should be four states with the relays.. Both on both off R1 on R2 off and R1 off and R2 on. But you can't win 'em all.
to get more relays there are many midi footswitchs that have relays like the Berginger 1010. And i use that to trigger the solo function with another guitar lead. and i still have one relay left. (a guitar lead or speaker lead should do it uses barely any current to switch a relay anyway)
so try the set up explained, and see what channels it switchs between on the roadster and then use an xtra relay to trigger the other channel (make sure the relays are open on the Gmaj)
Good luck
Nice Amps roadsters Four channels just makes more sense

1+
this thing is awesome! i use the RG16 for a few month now and i´m blown away. it´s an awesome sounding loop-system with an in genious switching-system integrated. it´s more than worth the money.
