I've been reading allot about Mesa's stock tubes and how they fall within a certain range so they work correctly in Mesa's amps. What exactly is that range? For an example I have two matched 6L6's from a reputable dealer and they are marked : Plate Current - 26.8 (ma) and Transconductance-2290. He stated that this is within the Mesa range. I've done extensive searches and cannot find out the official numerical ranges that Mesa uses. Does anyone know what the ranges are? Are the actual numbers a Mesa secret? The point is if we knew what the ranges were then we could easily get NOS or any other tube that had been correctly tested.

I spoke to Mike B the other day to get the operating specs so that I could get a set of tubes that will work within the range of my amp. I have a Simul-Satellite, which is pretty much a Mark III Greenstripe with a stripped down preamp. Here is what he recomended:

460-465v on the B+ pin at idle

Class A bias: -47v; 45-50mA (Pentode)
Class AB bias: -56v; 30-35mA

Hope that helps.
