I remember when the Maverick and the Blue Angel were introduced, there was also a Palomino amp, which I believe never made it to market. Does anyone have any info on it?

Yes... it was a one trick pony! lol

Sorry I just wanted to get another post credit ;)

Hmm...I was just a Mesa noob back then, but I remember the release of those two, but I really don't remember anything about a Palomino amp. Was that the name of it? Are you sure it wasn't just like a prototype for the Maverick or Blue Angel? Or maybe a custom version of one of those two?

I looked up "Mesa Boogie Palomino" on Google and only found references to a custom finish and the Crate Palomino.

That IS interesting. Sounds like the lonestar special might have been spawned from the palomino.

I wonder how many of these have been made? And does anyone have any pictures of one?

It's been a long time, but around the time of that catalog I called Mesa for support on something and asked them, and as I recall, they said that it had never gone to production. I can't remember if a reason was given.

Interesting!

How curious, I was remember this amp maybe last month, I'm glad that it is bring it up since I was thinking of doing it but I forgot at the time.

I have too the catalogue that would have been a hell of an amp, with the maverick cleans and crunch and a hi gain distortion, I like mi maverick distortion but sometimes I like a little more bite.

There must be a couple of prototypes somewhere around since there was the one at the picture plus maybe some more if they were tested.

That's pretty cool. If there are protos, they're probably locked in one of Mesa's vaults somewhere. lol.

Oi, Vigo1999! Tudo bem?
Yes, that Palomino looks very much like a Maverick but with an additional pot for (I guess) Presence. Also, the logo over the front panel says "Dual Caliber" instead of "Dual Rectifier".

I was wondering was kind of an interrupted attempt it was.

The DC-3 came out at the same time as a Dual Caliber version of the "Studio .38" and, with the DC-2 (22~25 watts) and the DC-3 (35~38 watts) sporting 1 and 2 pairs of EL 84's, that space seemed to be too crowded for another "Dual Caliber" sporting EL 84's.
Mystery!!

beleza! 8)

brazuca ou um apreciador da língua de Camões??

yes, it's a presence knob. but as you said, with all the other models, the palomino didnt find it's spot on the line i guess, thats why mesa dropped him (or evend didnt launch it) from their regular line.

Yes, I agree. Seems like the Palomino might be the missing link between the Maverick and the LoneStar Special. Has the footswitchable "crunch" evolved into a footswitchable "solo"?

Vigo: I also appreciate the futebol do Brasil... exempt when we "suffer" it. :?
