Mesa Boogie TA15 Metal Cover clean up

Hello, I just purchased a used TA15, which I love. The problem is the metal work on it is finger printed and tarnished, and I am anal about clean working gear. Has anyone tried to clean or buff out the fingerprints and tarnish on one of these, and if so what were the results? Thanks.

Unfortunately, if its got fingerprints and tarnish its probably the result of a previous owner trying to shine it up. The ornaments were clear-coated, and if cleaned with a solvent-based cleaner will eat the clear-coat, and lead to the situation you describe.
