Has anyone tried these in a Stiletto? Wondering if this might be a cure for the overly-bright tone stack on the Stiletto that has been talked about so much on these forums...If you did try it, how did it affect your tone?

See: http://www.mercurymagnetics.com/pages/mainframe.htm

Thanks.

Yeah, I hear ya. Since I originally posted this I've gotten the tone on my Ace really dialed. This amp has incredible tone and is quite versatile to boot. My Les Paul sounds so **** good through the Fluid Drive (as well as Tite Gain & Crunch), I've tossed all my distortion and OD pedals aside, don't need 'em anymore!

+1 on that!!!

The only pedals in play right now are my small stone (tone sucker), and an H2O pedal which is kinda growin' on me! Even my Morley wah pedals are gathering dust on the shelf now.

I seem to like my Ace all by itself the best!

I know this post is a little old . . . haven't been on the BB in a long time either but I'm stuck at home sick on a Saturday night

I recently had a MM Axiom output transformer installed in my Stiletto Ace head. It is not a perfect fit - the mounts needed to be flipped and the red lead wire needs to be extended by 5" or so. No mods to the amp necessary, but a tech will probably charge you about $100 to install it. I notified Paul @ Mercury and they should be including a longer lead wire on new ones.

anyways, it does not change the nature of the preamp. it's still bright and cutting. it does, if you can believe this, add even more harmonics and enhances the midrange detail. it's like icing on the cake. I was bored and had $$ to burn - it's worth the money but not a necessity. just something nice to add if you've owned a Stiletto for awhile and want it to sound fresh.

Many ***** about the presence and brightness of them Stilettos, but hey, it makes perfect sense in a band situation, or even blending amp tones...
