I have a Maverick 1x12 combo with a Black Shadow C90 in it.

Can someone share some nice settings with me?
Thank you
Daniel

did you see the settings section of grailtone.com? there are a few for the maverick and blue angel.

scott

Thank you, Scott.
Yes, I found some seetings for the Blue Angel but I couldn't find any for the Maverick. Maybe, I am looking at the wrong place?

Best regards,
Daniel

I just posted a link to a song with a couple guitar solos I did using a maverick. http://forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=56582

Settings are approximate:
gain - 2:00
treble - 1:00
mid - 10:00
bass - 11:00
reverb - 11:00
volume - 11:00
master - 8:00

Strat on bridge pickup, clean boost pedal on. Rhythm channel on fat with tube rec.

Hope this helps, though I find settings vary depending on the guitar, speaker/cab, and overall volume. Just mess around with it using your gear and playing style and you'll find stuff you like.

Do you have the manual or did you download the manual? They do have some suggested settings.

From other Maverick owners here, they claimed the "Mid" kind of governs the over-all tone controls. You see, most of these modern MESA Engineer amps have interactive tone controls where the treble governs the rest of the tone controls. In a Maverick, the midrange is the main tone control.

I don't know how a Celestion C90 sounds like but my Maverick is 2x12" combo and so far I find I'm switching between :
  • a Celestion Greenback / Celestion G12H-30 (Matchless' speaker Combo)
a Weber Silver Bell / Blue Dog alnicos
These two speaker combos sound great especially if you have a diverse guitar style, you toggle between these combo just like toggling between the tube rectifier and silicon rectifier.

... then another recommendation is a Tone Tubby 40/40 ceramic and a Tone Tubby H1 Alnico what they called "H-Bomb". I haven't tried that speaker combo yet.

Yes, I have the manual and I was following the line "As with most guitar amplifiers, the TREBLE control is the strongest of the three rotary tone controls". Yet, I wasn't happy with the results.

I will follow your advice on the MID as the main tone control since it must be the key to proper settings.
Thanks again.

Actually I'm not sure if the "mid control" or the "treble control" governs the rest of the tone. I just thought other Maverick members say the mid setting was the key. Don't know.

But I could have sworn I dialed the treble all the way up, and I was not getting enough treble bite. Of course the speakers were the alnicos.

But if I need more treble, the Celestion combo worked great. But less compression though compared to Alnicos.
