Thanks man. The production was done in like 30 minutes. I sat down for about a week getting these tones down right. I really think its all the amp and the type of guitar.

very good playing and a cool sound, but the sound is to harsh and a bit to modern for the MOP sound.
i´m missing a bit the "mark" character in the sound, missing the right words to discrip it.
but it´s not so far away from it, more like the sound metallica uses live at the moment.

wow, very nice indeed. Would you be so kind to share your settings for this?

Yeah, it's definitely a harsher sound than whats on the MOP record, but I think it's pretty darn good...and you have to factor in "digital clarity" as you don't have the same compression ratio as you do with analog. This 3 Channel Triple Recto that I bought back in 2005 has incredible mojo, and I've owned many amps in my day. I just bought a Mark II and I'm planning on shipping it off to Mesa to have them do the C+ upgrade. Anyway, here are the specs on the gear and settings:

Mesa Triple Rectifier (3 Channel)
Output: 11 o'clock
Presence: 9 o'clock
Master: 10 o'clock
Gain: 2 o'clock
Bass: 12 o'clock
Mid: 7.75 o'clock
Treble: 2 o'clock
Rectifier Setting Engaged
Bold Setting Engaged
Mesa 4x12 Straight Recto Cab

Gibson Explorer '84 Original w/stock pups.

Yeah I love it. Obviously the production is a bit off, but you don't have the same resource of course, still good though. And that's not the point. I love what your tone does to that song. I'm not a big metal fan, more of a hardcore fan, roots in punk and spent some time in the local hardcore scene bashing mohawks in the pit with other idiots when I was a kid. I've refined my tastes a bit since but I love how you've given the whole thing more punch and energy. Well done!

Thanks man...those passive pickups are amazing as well. That's a big part of the tone that has been lost for almost a generation due to the active pickup/EMG craze. The harmonics I get from these stock pickups are second to none.
