Hi All,

Bought a second USA Mark V some time ago with a step down converter.

I knew that the reverb didn't work when I got it but originally the cab I was playing through wasn't much good, so I was prioritising that first. I have a decent cab now & am looking to get the reverb fixed.

From reading the forum, the most likely cause seems to be a faulty JFET, so hopefully not too expensive to get fixed.

Does anyone have any experience, (good or bad) with amp techs here in Sydney so I can try & work out where I might be able to take my amp to get it fixed?

Hi Salty Frog,

Not working on all channels?

I'd recommend at least calling Pro Audio in Canberra. They have resident techs who are likely some of the most experienced techs' on mesa this side of the Atlantic.
Talk with them and they will probably help you narrow down the actual cause of the fault and may even suggest which tech in Sydney could sort out the repair.

I did this and ended up getting my Studio 22 to the Wizard of Amps. I can't recall his name but he stopped it from fizzing out and got the reverb working. I'm sure you can google them. I am really happy with the outcome.
But the 22 is 20 years older than the V, and I'd still start with a conversation with the guys at ProAudio.

Good luck.

Dunno if this is of any use to you

A really respected amp maker/repairer in the UK advertises him for Australian repairs.

Thanks for replying Ory.

The reverb isn't working on any channel.

I'd been a bit hesitant to call Pro Audio as I thought they might be a bit shirty with me for buying a model with the USA power supply rather than the ones that they bring in with the 240 volt power supply but I am thick skinned. :) I'll give them a call & see how I go.

If Pro Audio aren't much help, I might give The Wizard of Amps a ring.

Thanks Nick, not too big a drive if they are the best person to do the work.

The fella endorsing him does some great work on old and new amps. Designed and built his own too. I think he's either retired or semi retired now. When he wasn't taking work on years back he put me onto another local (to me) fella. To help sort out my first self built amp. I learnt so much.
What I'm saying is, that John Chambers recommendations go a long way in my book.

Here's Johns site, so you can have a look for yourself.
