After 3 months of research and 2 waiting lists, it just hit me that the mark v doesn't have it's own sound. Don't get me wrong, I'm buying it and I'm going to love it but there is no mark v setting.

oh no, it does have its own sound...It sounds more itself than it does the mark IV or IIC+.

Its very different for a boogie and a mark series.

This thought has actually occurred to me as well. But, if you think about it, the clean channel comes in three distinct flavors that are all unique to any other Mark amp (they all sound fabulous and have their own voicing/sound). Then, CH2 offers the edge and crunch modes that are also both new to the Mark series and have their own vibe, and, lasly, CH3 offers the Extreme mode which is also new with it's own sound. So, if you take away the three Mark modes you are left with the Mark V's 'own sound'. This is how I see it anyway. The other Mark modes are much welcomed additions to an already great amp.

Isn't the point of an amp to allow the player to shine through. When someone hears me play I'd rather them know it's me playing, and not that they just hear an amps tone.

How does this pertain to whether the Mark V has it's own voice or not?

The Extreme setting in ch3 is supposed to be the Mark V sig sound. And I don't really think the Mark 1 sound on channel 2 sounds like any Mark 1 i ever played. It sounds better - but it is still too dark for my liking. The...

Forgot what I was trying to say.

I hate channel 2. It licks my balls.

The Mark V cannot do Metal, does not have it's own sound, can't cop the Mark IV OR Mark IIC+ tones, yet this chassis rattlin', non-tube mixin', late-shippin', channel poppin', non-midi sumb*tch is the hands down favorite amp in my arsenal let alone best sounding amplifier I have ever played through... F all the non-believin', original IIC+ ownin', sour grapes dudes that don't own a V.

It has THE Mark tone. And you can't get that anywhere else.

Bullcrap what about triaxis ? That thing is the official encyclopedia of mark tones. But on another note the V is and will be awsome like all it's younger brothers.

When RANDALL designs a mark it's never a miss.

I'm rockin' my IV and will never let go of it but you guy's can bet your sweet a$$es that when I have the cash I will def get myself a V.

I though Mesa has stated Extreme mode is the Mark IV with the presence knob pushed, where Mark IV setting is a MarkIV with the presence pulled.

The maturity of this board just took a nose dive.

Thank you to the two of you that get it.

Of course it has it's own sound. But from the clips I've heard, it's incapable of reproducing anything except the low E string.
