OK... First of all... Thank You Boogie Board for all of the research you enabled me to do prior to making the purchase of my first ever Boogie - The Mark V. What a tremendous amp.

So today I attempted a demo of an original song (just rhythm stuff with programmed drums) to see what kind of tone I could get out of this amp for a hard rock song. It's far (far) from perfect or complete and I'm really going out on a limb here and posting the demo to see what kind of input I might get.

Good or bad, I'd appreciate some input from ye experienced Boogie users.

Here goes nothing...

Mod'd Mexican Fender Strat w/EMG 85/SA/81. Active pups are new to me, as well.

I remember reading a post about active pups not working well with the amp; however, as with all other guitars, the amp tweaks well to them. Just takes some fussing.

I have passives in my 7 and emgs in my 6's and im not going to lie i prefer the sound of acties of passive through the amp just because i love that little pre grit before anything, deff gonna be swapping out my dimarzios for emg 81-7 and a 60-7 as soon as i sell my ltd

One of the many awesome things about this amp is how much it really shows the differences in the guitar you plug into it. I've found that I've been able to tweak it on all guitars and am very happy with the in-room sound. Now to demo everything and see how it's translating into the DAW - the whole reason I bought the amp. I have a hard time seeing myself put this on a dirty stage. Not with my low level income. :(

Cool demo mate!

Id be interested in your settings as I use EMG's too!

I'll definitely get a settings pic up as soon as I can...hopefully this evening.

The recording is four tracks; two hard panned L & R, one 9 and one 3. All tracks were done with 90w Mark IV mode, full power, pentode, close to classic V sliders. Mark V head thru Marshall 1960A stock cab. Sennheiser e906 and Shure Beta 57A off axis, on individual speakers (top two).

If I recall correctly, settings were:
G - 1:30
M - 9
P - 12
T - 1
M - 10:30
B - 10
Bright switch on
Master vol - 12

Clean guitar is a scratch track that will be redone.

Yeah...and I currently have this guitar posted for sale (http://www.controlfreakds.com/port/mexStrat); however, after yesterday, I'm seriously reconsidering that.
