Hi,

I don't know if this is an issue on my amp, or on all Mark V's...

Loop is on, channel 3 volume is set to about 10,5 / 11 o'clock and master volume is set to about 11 o'clock.
I really have to get the Clean channels volume way up to max in order for it to cut through.

All channels are on 90watt.

For some reason I can't get channel 1 as loud as channel 3.

Any one else having this 'issue'?

thanks

The gain knob on the clean channel is set to about 1 to 2 (on a scale of ten), so it's set pretty low, because if I put it any higher, I get breakup, and I don't want that...

What mode and voicing are you using on the clean channel? Also, are you using the Sliders, Preset or EQ off?

I run channel 1 in the Fat mode, Bold vocing and EQ off. Gain around 10:30 to 11:00 o'clock. I can run the channel 1 master volume higher than any other channel but it gets real loud, very fast after 9:30 to 10:00 o'clock. I have found in the past, if I am using the EQ in channel one with high bass setting, it can get a little hairy.

that channel could never compete with the gain that low.

try compensating by lowering the volume on the guitar but boosting the gain. and i would definitely not use the EQ if you want maximum headroom

The "Black Art" applies here too, when switching channels I always adjust my guitar volume as a fine tune for the channel , if its too distorted, lower your volume ever so slightly, or (depending on guitar) try a different pickup mix for tonal variation and clarity.

I use Fat, bold switch on and no EQ.
I used the John Petrucci settings found on youtube.

But I'm experiencing it even on other modes..

Will try to raise the gain and see if that improves.

thanks

Chan 1 is the lowest gain chan. on the amp...so lower volume is normal. one of the tricks with this amp is to run all the modes the same... what I mean is: clean, edge, mk2, or fat, crunch,mk4 (which I use) or tweed, Mk1, extreme. so, If you are having probs with balance, try using tweed for chan 1 That has the most gain.. and running the gain down a little lower. Or, set up your clean channel at your loudest volume and turn down the masters on the other 2 channels. this may require running the amp master a little higher. Make sure that you are not choking the amp by running the loop to low...should always be at 12:00 or above. AB your settings by the FS FX on and off... they should be the same volume. + 1 on the comment about guitar volume.. hope some of that helps...keep tweeking...it will happen

Am I the only one here who finds that odd? Sounds like his gain is set at 8-9 o'clock. I sure don't get any breakup on my clean channel in that range.

If you are using the CLEAN setting you really shouldn't be getting much in the way of breakup. If you are in FAT especially with the BOLD switch on you will definitely be getting breakup.

Try the fat mode without bold first. If that still doesn't work after fiddling with the controls, then set it to clean without bold. That should give you clean tones without breakup...
