Mark IV sounding thin

Hello Everyone,

I have question regarding my Mark IV sounding thin. I was playing last night and noticed in the Lead Channel that the bass drops off for a bit, comes back, then drops off again. It just doesn't have that "full" sound. I thought my settings got messed with at practice, but then the sound I like came back for a minute and I was like, "there it is!", but then it went back to being thin again. I just retubed the amp about 3 months ago and had no problems until recently. If anyone has any troubleshooting I could try, I would appreciate it as I have a gig coming up and was hoping to use this amp.

As far as the amp is concerned...

1. Are any of your tubes redplating?
2. What tube configuration are you using?
3. Is the problem only noticable in the lead channel? If so, you may have an "internal chassis" issue (pots/solder joints/caps/ect.).

And in a different direction...

1. Are you using a power strip to plug into?
2. When you jiggle your speaker cord, does this produce the same "lack of bass"?
3. Are you running any FX in the FX loop?

I have the exact same thing happening with my amp. What did you find out about yours?

I once found my amp sounded thin. It was a combo and I had it up on a chair. as soon as I put it back onto the floor, all the bass came back

What do you mean by tubes redplating ?

My mk4 is starting to behave like this also. If I strum hard on the clean channel I get a full sound for a fraction of a second then it is like a noise suppressor is killing the note from ringing out. I also noticed a severe power drop in the amp over all. My bedroom playing level was at maby 1 1/2 on the output in tweed mode but now I have to crank it up to 4-5 to get the same volume.
