Mark IV high gain tube

where would the high gain 12ax7 tube be best? I want black album tone. Thanks

from what i tested i liked shuguangs and mesa's 12ax7s. for hi gain.

Sorry but I must have not been clear. I have a bunch of tung sols and have one high gain so far. which spot should i put it in? v1? maybe first lead gain stage?
Also, yes I am interested in which tubes Would make me closest to the crunch berries sound I have a mark IVB. Thanks

My advice - take half an hour and just try it out. Noone can tell you better what you want to hear than yourself

You won't get 'crunch berries' tone by changing the valves.
