Mark IV fan question...

Hi, I have an early 90's Mark IV 1x12 combo. Did some of these NOT come with a fan? If I convert to a head, is it imperative that I have a fan installed?

I think you should have a fan in there right now to be honest

Is there a small wire going from the output transformer that doesn't connect to anything? You can pick up a fan that will do the job for $20 at Radioshack.
