Hey, I no longer have my mark IV, but I got an Axe FX and I think it is sounding pretty good compared to what I was getting with the Mark IV. I jsut finished this song a little bit ago so I figured I'd post it.

It is called Edible Lovers. It' about 8 minutes long, so it isn't just a clip.

Great tones (of course, I'm a little biased towards what you used  ) and playing man, but you are probably going to get flamed for posting an Axe FX clip on here.

No way man the Axe-fx rocks and that was a killer clip. Those rhythm tones were absolutely brutal.... as well as the rhythms themselves. Nice job backwardsman!!

Just out of curiosity what do you run the axe into for practicing/live? I know a lot of the fractal guys like the FRFR monitors like the qsc hprs. I'm really interested in the new atomic reactor made specifically for the axe.

Thanks haha. I am actually using a power amp that I got off of ebay (150 watts each stereo) running into my 4 12 mesa cab. It sounds pretty good, but I haven't had too much time to mess around with it. I will get to spend some more time with it tomorrow and in the coming week, though as my band is auditioning drummers. I know that it is definitely loud enough, though. I do find, however, that running it straight into my studio monitors and using the cab sims, it sounds more natural running it though my cab. It isn't too big of a deal to me, though as I plan to run it through the FOH through output one using my power amp and cab as a monitor using my power amp and output 2 when playing live. The good thing is: I can put a global EQ on output two and try to get it sounding better. It's not that it sounds bad, it just sounds different than the tone I get recording. I will figure it out eventually, I guess. I will update you with the results I get soon. Thanks again. Oh, and I haven't played it through any powered speakers like the QSCs, just my studio monitors.

Sweet... what kind of power amp did you pick up?

BTW, if your going to be gigging you may want to look into the new Atomic Reactor FR built for the Axe-fx. Everyone that has tried it with the Axe has been raving about it... best part 9not that it matters really), is its a tube driven FR. I know it suprises some because most people equate tube power with dirty power as opposed to SS power which for the most part is very clean. Very cool they incorporated some of the audiophile clean tube power into the mix.

BTW, some of those rhythm tones were down right brutal... what amp sim(s) were you using?

Yeah, I just pick up this power amp, because it was cheap on ebay and I wanted to get an idea of how it would sound and such. It is an American Audio VLP 300, I believe. Oh, and the amp sims you are hearing on the heavy parts of the song are mark IVs (USA lead 1) boosted with a tube screamer. I keep the master volume on the amp sims at about 3 and the gain pretty low (about 5 or 6) and turn the tube screamer up to 100 on level and almost maxed on tone with about 1 on the drive (mix 100%). Also the gate is set to a pretty extreme level for attenuation. The cabs I used were the Cali and one of the recto cabs at the same time. With a 421 and 57 mic. Sometimes I would change out the 57 for a 609, but I don't recall exactly where I did that.

I don't know if that is what you wanted a link to, but there it is.

the axe sounds great when recording direct, but i could never get mine to to sound anything like i wanted live.through a power amp and cab..it came close at low volumes but didnt have the feel of a real boogie,or any other amp for that matter..i ebayed it and now looking for another boogie.
