Do all of the early mark IV's look like this? The edges look like they are 2x as thick and it basically looks like crap to me. It also looks like it would be longer than a normal Mark IV like my B that I'm accustomed to.

here's another pic

So I guess it looks like a II shell. Did these originally come with the Mark IV's?

I found a shell like this to replace my combo with, but now it doesnt look like it will match up with the cab that I JUST built to match the combo dimensions...

I own a Mark IV A long head from 1991...and my head looks a little different. I don't have the "Boogie" logo, I have a "Mesa\Boogie" logo with the black material, not the screen. The front is held on by velcrox (sp?). and pops off to get to the pre-amp tubes In the back I don't have those long tube holders. Just the short black ones with the sharp pins that grab hold.

Hope this helps.

I LOVE that grill! Is that a factory option for a '91 Mark IV? Sorry, I'm no help to your questions I just thought it was a very cool, unique look.

The wide side thickness was normal on the early runs of the Mk IV (and on all MK II, III widebody headshells too).
Pretty sure those sides are 1-1/8" thick. All they are is two pieces of plywood glued together (3/4 and 3/8).
You think its too much trouble to remove the 3/8" piece that I assume is on the outsides?

If I ever got around to retolexing, i'd want to make it look more like the current heads. (fyi i'm doing a head swap and getting one that looks like these pics... i'm not really into the looks of the wide sides or the tolex pattern)
