Hey guys, at risk of pissing people off, just wanna say that I put some clips of my Blue stripe up on soundclick, so go check em out and critique my tone! I am especially interested in fellow mark III owners (boogiebabies, rabies, shep, all yalls) let me know what you guys think, and how I can make it better.

clips are here: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=678480

Power tube drive in simul class mode  I just about blew the roof off getting it. V1 is on 8, Lead Drive on 10, Master on 6.5, and lead master on aboud 3.5.

all those clips are just guitar -> cable -> amp. emg's help....

yeah..

i really sat down with my new mk iii today and gave it a good go..IT IS SO EASY TO USE...compared to the mk iv that is..ahha..

yeah i ended up getting that heavy chunk pretty easy just playing with the presence adds so much..

i went from john scofield to killswitch it one click... that just about sums up my musical tastes..EVERYWHERE

i'm pretty proud of the low gain acdc and hendrix tones I can get outta the III as well. they sound more like an old marshall than some of the jcm2000's I've heard

Are you telling us that you used an open back combo?

I would have to say that the tones were awesome. Unlike everyone else,
you were man enough to cut them dry. Also, your timing is superb. Did you use a click track or just tap your foot.

Have you ever belted that monster through a front loaded 4X12 or two?

yeah those clips are totally dry. absolutely 0 effects, compression, or eqing. the amps reverb was on about 3. the eq at the board was totally flat. and sonar was basically a really expensive version of the windows recorder for me. all it did was record and export. to do the recording I used the open back combo, and the 1x12 thiele. the two are blended together. the open back is by far the more prominent, with the 1x12 very faint in the background just filling in some of the bass. I didnt use a click track, and for that matter I didn't even tap my foot. I've been playing with a pro quality drummer twice a week for about 3 years now, been playing guitar for like 4, and I've played piano since I was like 11. (though I dropped it at age 17) so I think I kind of developed an innate sense of rhythm. I actually have problems tapping my foot. I can't really walk and chew gum at the same time so tapping my foot tends to confuse what my hands are up to.

I'm located in new jersey. East coast repersent. but given the nature of the boogie company, and its reputation vs. demographics here in the US, I think I'd fit better in LA. I'm still working on moving out there. almost succeeded about 4 months ago in getting a job with a major talent management agency in LA, but they wouldn't pay relocation costs. so I went elsewhere. anywho, yeah it was sick loud. I did the recording at my church actually. I lugged my pc and equipment over there. I have a room there that is for all intents and purposes sound proof. which is fortunate seeing as I recorded these clips at that volume level at 11:00 at night. and also when on to just rock out for about 2 hours or so after I was done, so it was 1 am when I was playing at this volume level.

Hei Schmoog,
those clips sounds great!
I especially like the AC/DC sound.... is it the R2 channel or the Lead? What settings were you using?

Thanks!

all the clips were recorded with the same exact settings on the lead channel of the amp. for the AC/DC track all I did was roll back the volume on the guitar. for purple haze it just went back a little bit more. doing it that way, my mark III sounds more like classic ac/dc than my 81 JCM800

I think its mostly micing and speakers. I used a 58 and a 57 to mic it up, and they accent the mids and highs. also, the gflex (really closed back cabs in general) help it to sound bigger. remember that you are hearing 90% open back 1x12. i'll make some more clips on friday night with the open back, the thiele, and my ported 15's. then we'll see who sounds satanic. it can definetly do better than those clips, but they're not bad. personally I am thrilled with the low gain stuff. sounded awesome to my ears. just gotta work that honk outta the metal tone and crank it a little more.
