Mark III footswitch questions

OK, I really don't know much about these so I am asking for some help. I have a Mark III that uses footswitches. Can you use any brand/type footswitches with the Mark III? Also can the original Mark III footswitches be used with other amps/brands? I would guess yes, but I just want to make sure.

You should be able to use any simple switch. If you have EQ/Reverb you'll need a stereo cable for that. I use a 'Y' to break that into to single lines to run to my switching system.

On mine (short head)...

1 - Rhy/Lead
2 - Rhy1/Rhy2
3/4 - Rev/EQ
