Dear fellows,

I've got a Mark III Blue Stripe combo and I need to install a new speaker.
I am considering a Celestion V30.
However, the V30 is 60W and I believe the Blue Stripe is 75W.

I am sure that if I crank it, it will blow the speaker. (But it will be impossible! I believe the police will be knocking on my door much before 11) :)

Nevertheless, do you think it will be a problem?
Is it ok to install the V30?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Cheers,
Ivo

V30s generally aren't ideal for combos. That said, Mark combos generally aren't any good for anything resembling high gain.

Personally I like G12T-75 for Mark IIIs, however in a combo I'd recommend checking out a 75W Creamback (assuming metal is not what you're after). Or, a Black Shadow C90..

You’re fine with V30 unless you need to constantly go above 120dB. V30 also sounds fine in mark combo but I guess it depends on the sound you’re going for. If you want loud and fat clean then maybe it’s not ideal. I’ve had V30 on and off in mark3. It’s a solid speaker.

Def not a bad choise. That lower sensitivity is not a bad thing when se talk about mk3 amp which gets pretty loud pretty quick.
