Don't worry, someone will tip him off hours before the auction ends. It will then be pulled from auction and relisted at $2000+. I've seen this happen a few times.

Well, That didn't last long.....

Went for $1850. Looked like it had no reverb. The pic of the back showed no knob for it next to the Presence knob.

I won the auction :D . If it's as advertised, I think I got a great deal. Now the waiting begins...

Congrats! Yes, a very nice deal!
Thanks!! Once I get it, I think it'll be headed to Mesa for a little TLC. After that, I may well be contacting you to discuss getting a headshell for it... I've seen the great work you do.

Just for fun, what was your top bid? I was the next lowest bidder. :D
Let us know how it sounds...congrats!

I bid a fair amount higher, so rest easy, you didn't "just miss it" :) . I guess because it was listed as a IIC it kept the price down. I'll post pics to the vintage forum when it shows up. Cheers!

Possibly. But people shopping for a IIC+ know what to look for even if the auction doesn't say IIC+. I've seen IIC+'s going for $1800 - $2200 lately so this was a good deal. I'm curious if it I was right about the lack of reverb though.

There's an 1985 IIC+ head on ebay right now and the guy wants $3200. I don't think they're pulling that down in this economy. We'll see though. It looks real clean.

So what did this end up being? It looks like he changed the auction to it being called a IIB. Reason I ask is that I've got a IIC+ (upgraded to + status), and I get precious few emails about it through here.

The amp sold for $1850 (I think)

It's only my opinion but from my point of view as a collector/player, I wouldn't even consider an upgraded amp. I do understand that they can & do sound the same, but for the kind of money one has to put up to score one of these you have to consider what the amp will be worth down the road. While times change and the upgraded amps may indeed one day bring the kind of $$ that
the originals do, for now the original is a sure thing and that is why I feel the way I do. It's also a lot like buying an old Winchester, the ones that bring top dollar are the ones in original condition, not having been refinished. Both guns are old Winchesters, but the one that will retain it's value is the one in original condition, poor to pristine, it will still be worth more than a gun that has been refinished. Geeeez...... I'm rambling, enough said.
see 'ya, Jim

Lots of good deals on the C+ lately. Almost pulled the trigger on a very clean reverb, eq, 100/60, combo with $2150 BIN (buyer was willing to ship for free with BIN). Got sold for $2252 + ship.

As for converted C+, the 60w high serial 123xx with pulled deep faceplate BIN of $1300 is quite enticing too.

I guess the best time to buy a C+ is when you’re not in a hurry, patient to wait for the good deals.
