Hi

I am interested in a Mark 5 25 and was wondering if you guys/girls could help me with a question. I play a wide range of styles and need a bit of versatility but am used to a three channel amp, an Ironheart. Great amp. I also have a Blackstar ht20, also lovely but only two channel. I gig with hard rock/metal band and need a clean channel, a good metal rhythm sound and a lead. Can the foot switchable EQ on the 5 25 give enough of a boost to give me 15 to 20% more volume for lead work? (Or cut the volume by the same amount).

Thanks in advance for any response

Thanks for the reply.
That's great news. So are you saying I could not only boost my level significantly but also have a bit of shaping in there as well?

What I did with mine was to set the EQ on the Clean mode so it gets me close to the Fat mode. I now have 2 cleans on the foot switch plus I can switch to channel 2 for a lead tone. But you can add a lot more gain with the EQ than I did.

I've had mine for a few months now.....I specifically set mine up for exactly what you are talking about. By running the faders up on each frequency about a quarter of an inch (except the lowest -left it down), I now have added two more channels to the amp.

When I need a little more boost for a clean solo, it's there. Normally, I don't need the boost very often on the lead channel, but yesterday at a gig - a couple of times I needed just a little more "oomph" to get over the top.

BTW .... I love this amp. The other guitar player in my band bought one the day after hearing mine and we run both direct to the PA with no cabs. The sound is amazing direct. and the use of the boost in the mid EQ on the clean channel adds a whole other dimension also.

Got my mk5 25 today.
Wow.
l could have spent all day on the clean. It's gorgeous.
And that crunch with the EQ. That blew me away.
To answer my own question, yeah you can get a very decent boost with the EQ.
Can't wait to gig it.

Yeah, that is a fantastic amp, great versatile, specially for the price!!

I also use the extra EQ for boost.
This small amp is just fantastic. 2 channels and extra EQ controlled by foot!
