Hi first post here im from denmark so i hope my english is understandeble.

I have just pull the trickar on a loaded simual class head.
Its a c model amp tht where upgraded in 2006 by MB and everything is confirmed, the ebay seller have sold many c+ amps and tells me the upgraded c+ sounds almost the same a org one with 105 transformer. and in his oppinion its more smooth and infact te best sounding he has sold

Basicly il be running my upgraded c+ with a MXR EQ in the efecs loop ,speaker cabinet is a marshall 1960 with vintage 30, i like my sound heavy but still with good feel and not to trashy, basicly metallica rytmen crush , justice tone with a different eq setting.

My questian is did i buy the right amp ?
Because aperantly in the c+ guide or dummys its stated that there is a vey real difference in sound between a 100 transformer and a 105 transformer, and that the 105 s rawer and nore dynamic in other words a better amp for heavy guitars.

Eny advice would be apriciated

oh it will first be here in 10 days time so bsicly i havent heard it yet,

Here is a post with some information comparing different transformers.

Don't let the word smooth fool you. They both have killer gain. Comparing the 100 and 105 I preferred the 100. Just seem to get to the sweat spot earlier. A tad more musical sounding. Both are great amps. The difference is very minor. Unless you heard them side by side you couldn't tell. One thing I did notice between the two. I had to adjust the presence up a notch on the 100 and almost off on the 105 to get the sound I liked. I preferred a liquid lead tone but you can easily get a Marshall type sound by adjusting the presence higher.

Hi guys thanks

Obviously i shuldent judge before i listen , i have always wanted one, some years back i had the quad pre with a 295 simual class amp and it sound freaking amazing , but when i startd to listen to mark 2 c+ clips and older metallica albums the quad wassent quit a makr 2c+.

But it seems that the difference is very small, and further the seller is in close contact with MB because the aparently have dissused the isue the difference i small, but because the 100 transformer works simular to the 101x wich is said to be the best sounding.

Enyway i try not to get to geeky about it , just wanted to know if whant i have bourgt is indeed the mark2c+ wich will give me the right (Metallica like) crunch

regards

You should be able to nail a great Metallica crunch out of just about any IIC+ with an EQ (onboard or external). I think you'll be very happy with your purchase. Let us know what you think when you get it!

No, I sold him that amp. It is legit. I have sold a few recently on eBay overseas. When I got this one I verified it with Mike B himself when I was talking with him about an C+ he was doing a recap on of mine.
It has DRG written on the side. The work performed was a C+ update along with some other items in 2006.

Hi guys, and Dave

I surthenly will get back with my findings.

I really wassent aware that there was eny differences between 2c+ heads except for it being fully loaded or not, so i just bourgt the first one i found.

Its obvious that you get a littel nervous when you read that there i a significal difference in sound with the different transformers and the one i bourgt was the one you wouldent buy if you pay heavy stuff, wich i do.

But i have a feeling that that goes right out the wndow when i hit the first cord.

Also my thourgt is that since il be using parametrical eq (rane /aphex ) the diffenrece betwen me using a head with 105 or 100 would be amost zero because the EQ will colure over what ever diffenrece there was.
I also use emg`s

It should be with me next week .

thanks

stay tuned

is this TGD? seems fishy

that was the first thought that occurred to me!

Why and what dos TGD mean ?

TGD is referring to a certain bloke who had issues with another board member and decided to hold People's court about it here.
Hopefully we have heard the end of that so life as we know it gets back to more drama-less posts.
