I'll start by saying I have not read all 3 pages here, but to answer a few points I see on this page, the reason it is always "best" to use the highest tap on your OT is because the 8ohm tap on a 8/4 ohm tranny is using the full secondary winding. The lower taps on any multi tap OT are "tapped" somewhere closer to the middle of the winding, therefore you arent using the entire winding, not really "bad",but not "ideal".Mesa and Fender OT's can stand a 100% mismatch in impedance in either direction.Using a 8ohm load with your 4ohm out will effectively cause your tubes to run a bit cooler, good for the tubes,if not your tone.Using a 4ohm load in the 8ohm out will cause the tubes to run a bit hotter, which will mean shorter tube life. Not necessarilly dangerously shorter, but shorter just the same.I would not really recommend using the lower load/higher out scenario because of course if the tubes are less than ideal and die a quick death, just as in any scenario a shorted power tube can cause other damage,so if you have a bad power tube to begin with,it will die that much faster if you mismatch in the 4ohm load in an 8ohm out.But the same is true if you bias your power tubes hotter.I generally do that in all my amps, they are on the edge,so to speak, all the time.So if you like the tone of a 4ohm cab in an 8ohm output and your tubes are up to the task it is okay, just be ready to change them more often. What I've stated here applies only to Fender and Mesa OT's,it may or may not be true with other amps as well, but I can tell you do not try any mismatch with any Marshall OT's,they just cant take it.

Hi well i have it hooked up the way mesa recormends , if i cant reley on there advice them the who can I .

Thanks for the info it axcellent to learn about the nature of the beast.

Hi all got my cab.

Il get back to the sound but so far its spot on what i had hooped, way more soul then my Quad , it really do sing.

But somthing strange happent, when i hooked up the footswich everything worked perfectly but now when i push the button on the footswich nothing happens.

Eny idea what is going on ?

Luckly it stoped working on the Lead channel ,

Push in the lead drive. If it's out it disengages the footswitch.

You are right , now it work .

Best clean sound i have ever heard. for that alone its woth its price.

The lead channel is just unbeliveble, to my ears it sounds exactly like old metallica stuff.
There is somthing special to its sound, Extremly responsiv and very transperent to my playing.
I tried using the metallica setting (dyers Eve) and when i grab those power chords i get goospots all over, so dynamic and brutal yet so fine, almost like a thousinds violins playing at ones.

just need a paremetrical EQ in the loop bvecasue its actually quit midrangy.

I can see why its such a fine recording amp because the sound is so high kvality it will DIFFENTLY do the trick for my cruch rytmen playing and recording.

Best think about it is that even do it can do metallica spot on it so transperent to your playing that unless you are hetfield it will never sound exactly like him.

The clean channel gest dirty when i have my favorit lead sound but was eåpecting that.

But hey now a have a reason for getting one more with the 105 tranny.

:)

Back to playing

A littel taste of have it sounds, but to be honest it sounds 1000 times better in reality.

No effects , just c+ into marshall 1960 with v30`s

I just used a cheap crappy digital camara that only do 64 kbps bit files : .

Im still wating for powermac
