I'm getting a random crackle (and some occasional snaps and pops) through my new LSS. It's not the tubes; I did the tube tap test and no problems.

I started to notice it when I turned the reverb up a week ago. I had it at about 1 or 2 and recently turned it up to 12 or so.

I plan on calling mesa in the morning, just curious if there are any other tests out there.

maybe a power conditioner? Random pops could be from the electrical wiring carrying surges from light switches being turned on and off, as well as other electrical users in the house! Mine did that till i used a power conditioner.....really cleaned up the random pops and other noises.

I had pops, but it was indeed the tubes. Replaced the set and back to normal.

Not sure what it would be if not the tubes. Do you notice it in 30W mode as well as 15 or 5?

The 30 seems to work okay, but I still need to play with it more. It's really intermitant.

The power conditioner is a good idea.

I've had tubes crackle like that and pass the tap test with flying colors. You never know until you swap it with a known good tube.

Since this happened when you turned up the reverb, the reverb driver tube may be noisy -- check that one.

I had the "crackling" problem too,..on all wattage settings,.although it got louder as I went down to the 5 watt seeting,..

I ended up tracing it down to one of the power tubes,..switched the tube with the one used on only the 30 watt setting,.5 and 15 watt settings are good now,..just can't go to 30 watts,..until I get another tube.

Was this on one channel only? I have the same thing happening on my Lonestar's clean channel.

Odd. I had the same thing. Changed the tube in V2. Was good for 2 weeks and then it came back.
