A buddy of mine recently hooked up a Fuchs ODS 30. And I had a chance to audition it and compare it to my LSC.

Bottom line is that the Fuchs has this incredible touch dynamics best I've played in any amp. With no channel swithing -just using the volume knobs and pick attack you can run through lovely cleans to searing vintage distortion.

With that said, ultimately the clean tone and the reverb on the LSC to my ears were capable of a bit more bounce sparkle and spank while still retaining a warm shimmer. The Fuchs cleans while very sweet never seemed quite as Fendery. I do think I slightly prefer the distortion on the Fuchs with my CS Strat as it seemd a little tighter than the LSC. The LSC gain channel definitely preferred my CS 59 LP with boutique PAFS over the Strat.

All in all the Fuchs is a great amp as is the LSC. If they were similarly priced it would be a tough choice. I'll have more comments when I use it again. The Fuchs is definitely a cool amp.

Yeah.....The Fuchs is a great amp, but having owned both (I have a LSC 1x12 combo now), the amps are so different, that it is hard to draw direct comparison. The Fuchs excels at the smooth Dumbley type tones on its lead channel, and while the LSC also has a beautiful lead channel, it is more voiced towards straight rock and roll. The Fuchs is more polite.

I really love my LSC! The combination of its stellar cleans, and rockin' lead channel make it one of the most versatile and best sounding amps I have ever had the pleasure of owning. That is saying alot, as I have, and currently have a healthy stable of very high end, hand wired boutique stuff, and its the LSC that I have been playing every day!

I agree Blueser. I too have gone through several boutique amps only to arrive back at the LSC. What I've found is while great tone is of the utmost importance versatility is also key. And I do love the versatility of two channels and various settings on the LSC -no to mention the ability to run 6L6s EL34s 6V6s etc.. There are alot of tonal shaping tools in the Lonestar box.

I do think that the LSC and Fuchs do have certain tonal similarities. Neither are metal amps -both are great blues and rock-n-roll amps with stand out cleans and enough gain to do without a pedal.

Any clips/comments on a Lone Star with 6V6s!?! I'm planning on trying Tung-Sol 6V6 reissues.

Yea, I've just re-discoverd my LSC/EL34's. Got a new Reverend MantaRay 290, and plugged her into my LSC and I remembered why I bought this amp in the first place. Very rich and full cleans, and the OD channel was creamy smooth and harmonically rich. If it wasn't so dammed heavy. Been playing my Goodsell lately, cause it's all in there too.

I don't have any first hand knowledge of the LSS, but I've read a lot of good things about it here and on TGP. Let me tell you that I bought my Goodsell completly from testomonials, and after talking to Richard 2 times on the cell. I listened to a couple of great clips, on especially nice clip from MKG (TGP), and some on the Superseventeen site. Before I bought the amp I demoed a Dr.Z Maz 18 Jr. and a Carr Vincent. Neither of these amps has the warmth and shiizzizzle of the 17. The Goodsell is just that good. No way does it have the headroom of my LSC, but I go FOH anyway. The 17 is super touch sensitive, and each guitar retains it's own distinct character. The 3 knobs on the Goodsell have so many tonal varieties in them its incredible, but super easy to just plug in and get great tone instantly. I use mostly my Lollar equipped Tele, or my Kinman AvnBlues Strat with the 17. My LP/HB's is a RnR machine with a lot of crunch on hand with the Goodsell. Like Richard Goodsell says, "It feels like your fingers are connected directly to the speaker".
