All,

Newbie to the board as I just bought the 112 Lone Star Classic yesterday. When unpacking my new amp, I noticed a long philips screw sticking out of the bottom of the amp chassis right near the cooling fan. I also had a 1" rubber bumper sitting in the bottom of the cabinet.

The screw threads into a speednut in the metal chassis, and it appears to go all the way through to the wood surface of the cabinet (underside of the top side of the cabinet). The screw is finger tight.

What is this screw for? Saleman at Guitar Center had no clue, nor could I find anything on the net about this. Will be calling MB tomorrow, but thought someone here may know. The amp works fine and I am quite please with my purchase.

Thanks

got the same thing in my f30 chassis (ive opened it up many times just
to take a peek)
exactly as you described, its about 3 or 4 inches long, protrudes from
the bottom of chassis and goes all the way into the wood in the top.
my guess is this: it makes assembly quicker because it lines up
the chassis with the cab quicker, that way you dont need to waste
time feelin around for the holes for the screws goin in from the top.
btw, "time after time" was hand written in white marker pen on my pc
board, anyone seen this?
thought it was pretty funny.

I left a message with MB this morning, and had a call back in 2 minutes.

The screw is there for vibration control in combo amps. As for the rubber bumper, that is most likely just an extra left over from assembly that fell into my cabinet.[/quote]
