I'm playing on an Express 5:50. I've been trying to solve tube issues this morning, and what started as a routine preamp tube change may have turned into something much worse. I'm getting very low volume, especially on the 5 watt setting, along with distorted flat tone. Something happened when I was fiddling around trying to locate which tube needed changing. After the volume problem started, I even switched out the power tubes, but it seems like the amp might need to be taken in.

Suggestions? Any help would be much appreciated.

Did you put the bad preamp tube in by mistake? I have done that. Put the amp up on a table with a good light and remove all the tubes taking note where they went, then carefully put them back in making sure that each tube is seated correctly in the socket. Try taking a look into the preamp sockets to see if you might of bent the contacts on the inside. If you have you could use a plastic dental tool to straighten them back out if they are not to damaged. If all this don't work, give Mesa a call. Hope this helps.
