Oh dear. I wonder if any of my Brothers in Boogie-age can shed light on this for me...?

Typical as it is, IE: just as I've just joined a band yesterday and am supplying my amps to a charity gig on the 29th and 30th, my Mark V seems to have suddenly lost 10 watt mode in all three channels. The power tubes got into standby mode when ever it's selected (base glow, but not 'on' position looking and the sound fades out rapidly to zero in like a second and a half when switching from 45 watt mode or 90 watts downwards whilst on..
I've changed all 4 powertubes, and it doesnt seem to be them... no blown fuse silliness or anything either...
The amp still roars like a smooth ass beast in 45w and 90w.

I'm panicking now, so needed is the amp particularly at this juncture..
Any ideas if its a preamp tube problem?
And if so which is it likely to be...?

Or is it likely to be something more serious/amp related?

Can anyone help...? Really would appreciate some input...

*EDIT* Hang on guys... saw the 10 watt mode thread here... read that 10 watt is mandatory rectifier tube mode.
Switched 45 watt mode on channel 2 over to tube mode...it died. Switched back to diode it returned.
This is looking like mystery solved. Looks like it is indeed the rectifier tube.

Ah well. At least its NOT the amp and it's "old faithful" tag is intact... and I can pick a rectifier tube a couple of weeks...no drama. WHEW...!

Still at least the elimination process had me change into my new power tubes today...wowwww viscious smooth massive broad 3d sounding tone again, so that was well worth it as they were the original shipped tubes from like 3 years ago...keeping em as spares now.

Hope someone else finds this useful oneday if they have the same thing, at least.

Thanks chaps. Im happy again.

Always refer to the user manual for help, seems many people forget Mesa takes time to include helpful info related to the particular amp, you can download the manual from their site, just printed out a manual today for my 2 channel Dual rec, 38 pages!
Also printed manuals for my DC5-B and studio preamp.

Glad your amp is ok!

Checked the manual....didn't see a troubleshoot that covered this issue.
But yeah 'tis my bible. :)
Ive had 2 Mark Vs (combo then head) but its my 1st all valve-model amp and my relative inexperience sometimes freaks me out lol
