Hey

I was looking at some audio switches so I can put a few stomp boxes in front of my amp and bring them in and out via midi.

The most well known at least to me are the RJM RG-16, GCX Audio Switcher, and the GRX4 Guitar Router/Switcher. Right now the GRX4 is the winner and not do to quality they are all quality switches but due to its size, I’m trying to keep everything compact as possible and I only need two loops one for a BB Preamp and the other for a Keeley Compressor (4 knob) all other effects will be done through a processor already in the loop.

The question is there any other units out there that I might not be aware of that are worth a look?
Also any good or bad experiences with the units that I have already listed.
Thanks guys
John

go with the GRX4, I use two of them, and can really recommend them. Mario will answer your questions very promptly regarding setup, which is a breeze anyway. With a good controller, they're the best for the money and are really flexible. Quality is really good, although the older design is still the best.

+1. Mario is a great guy and makes amazing products. Can't go wrong with Axess!

I have had this post up for three weeks now. Your timing to respond (which I appreciate) is funny just finished last night. And I do like the unit allot!

I’m using a Rocktron All Access so controlling things the way I want won’t be an issue

I also use the All Access, couldn't be easier really once I worked out what the CTL STORE function did. Your rig looks awesome, congrats on some fine work, I'll have to post my pics up soon too. Cheers.

Thank you!
I have always loved that controller also makes programming the rig so much easier and faster and gives you so many more options. But there again you have one so you know!

hey, 6l6 .. what cables are you using ?
Hey
The cable is Canare. The type is GS-6. I have been this cable for about 20 years I do try other cable from time to time. I still have cables that I made 20 years ago still in perfect shape. I also like the cable is pretty flexible as opposed to something like Planet Waves which is a little more rigid (but I like Planet Waves also). Bottom line allot of good cable out there.

nice rig!
i´m using the RJM RG-16 but if you don´t need the amp-switching thing, it is a bit overloaded.
btw. i use the All Access as well - what an awesome footcontroller!
as you said before, it makes it really easy to program a complex setup.

Hi Joe

Thanks!

Part of the reason I did things the way I did with this rig, was an attempt to have what I want and at the same time keep down the size of the rig. I’m pretty happy and still have room for two more stomp boxes. As for the channel switching, not visible but a CFX4 is covering the channel switching.

Noticed you like some stomp boxes also and like me you don’t want to do the pedal dance. You got some nice gear there, like your guitar collection!

John

thanx john!

the pictures are not really up to date.
i´ll have to take some new pictures and update the gear-page...sometimes i´m a bit lazy with this things.

here is a picture of the rig i´m using at the moment.

as for the guitars, some are gone allready. e.g. the JP06LE had to go for another EBMM EVH (red flametop), today i got a Wolfgang Std. (black, pat. pending) - awesome sounding guitar!

btw. sorry for hijacking your thread.

I own and actively use the RJM RG-16 for my switching/looping. Its a great peice of gear. All true bypass...switches all channels/functions of my 3 channel dual rectifier. I have 6 effects looped in the unit, all midi programmed and controlled by a Vodoo Labs Ground Crontrol Pro. These two work flawlessly together. No popping when switching amp channels either.
