Looking to build first DIY amp - Rev F. Recto!

Hey all! I'm an aspiring amp builder looking to build my first amp based off of a 1992 Rev F. Dual Rec! Before you jump to the reply button and start saying "Its not worth the time and money", "Only do this if you know what you're doing", "or "I like pickle sandwiches!", please know that I DO generally know what I am doing, I've been fixing tube amps in my free time for the last 3 years and I have a post secondary education in electronics. I also DO NOT like pickles. I'd like to one day have my own brand of amps with their own designs, but first I need a bit of experience building these darn things!

Anyways, on to the meat n potatoes!

I like the rev F design simply because its simple! I've checked online and found that ampclones.com makes a pcb board and a chassis for it that will ship for about $150 or so. Has anyone here had any experience with these guys?

I would also like to ask if anyone here has installed a mercury magnetics OT and PT into their recs. Are they worth the price?

I want to make a few modifications to the circuit as well. I like how the new rec's are multi-watt. Mesa likes to have their selectable wattage's fixed via flip switch, but I like how companies like Blackstar have it variable via turn pot on the series 1. If there is a circuitry guru around here, any advice or tips on these circuits would help greatly.

Any other info that you guys have on DIY amps or ideas you would like to see in a Rec, please let me know!!

I've successfully build a Marshall clone... It's based on a 1965 18 watt Marshall combo. Sounds great and it was cool and fairly easy to build. Mine is similar to the Ceriatone 18watt TMB but has some minor tweaks and I managed to get my hands on NOS resistors from the 60's :mrgreen:.

Some ideas for your build: if you add bias adjustment to the features of a Roadster you're making one hell of an amp!

It depends on what you want your Multi-watt to do... I know that Bruce Egnater put a "multi-watt" trim knob on his Rebel and Renegade series amps, but all this did was change the available headroom in the circuit, not the volume.
