I have a Mesa Rectifier 4x12 with a tear in the cloth. It breaks my heart but I need to sell it. My band split up years ago, I moved away to a place where I have not been able to find a new band and with kids n'all I don't see myself going out on the road again...

I'm having trouble selling the cab for a reasonable price. This could be because of this tear (the only disfigurement the cab has). No interest whatsoever. I've contacted the Netherlands importer who says new cloth is only available on a grill, costing a fortune (he wasn't specific, but hinted at €250 to €300, around $400. Ludacrous, a yard could sell for $50 and would still be expensive), and may not even be available for months, if ever. He was really discouraging.

I've searched everywhere on the net from USA to Hongkong. The only one I could find to have the stuff is Vibroworld.com but they've been closed for almost two years now that I know of, shouting to "reopen soon" from the front page of the website the whole of that time! Zack is probably a good guy, but this is not soon by any standard. Mojo had a picture of something that look like it on their website (#6000008), I ordered it, what I got is not even the same as the picture. I just checked and they changed the picture! Must be my doing. I gave the UK-dealer quite a hassle. Better this way, but I still don't know where to get the good stuff!

Am I the only one on this planet with a tear in the grill cloth? Is it so much cheaper in the US? Mesa must get it somewhere too?

Anyone, please! Is there a source for this cloth anywhere??

BTW, I reposted this from an answer to a post in the "non-Boogie" amps section, because mine is a real Boogie...

try vibroworld.com

He's tried there. They've been closed for at least a year that I know of. I remember seeing on the site around March of last year that they would reopen around July. I guess that didn't happen.

That's the place I was going to recommend also.

Yep. That was March 2007, BTW. Vibroworld's site said they were relocating to a new facility to be able to serve the customers better. It still says that. The current notice has been up since januari 2008. Actually also very shortly after mailed with a question about when he was going to reopen. I still have the answer in my in-box. I tried last months, but that address is overloaded.

Really frustrating, if I'd been a couple of months earlier it might have been open still.

Thanks for the interest!

I have an interested buyer, BTW, I'm in The Netherlands. Pretty steep shipping...

But that tear is costing me. I figure at least €100. I saw another one go for much more in November.
Go figure that just now I've spotted a band that needs a guitarist round the corner...

Thanks for the reply. I sold the cab. For almost what I had in mind, which is of course less than I think it's worth.

I did look at Mojo. I ordered the #6000008 from Allparts in UK, which is closer than US.
As it says in my OP, BTW. They had the wrong picture up, it looked just like MESA cloth, but it turned out much thinner with a different weave pattern. Mojotone US have the correct photo up now: http://www.mojomusicalsupply.com/item.asp?pid=17670&pg=44986&id=6000008 , Allparts still has the wrong one, that was on mojo's as well: http://www.allparts.uk.com/marshall-black-inchx-inch-grill-cloth-yard%E2%80%A6-p-5124.html?p=product

Nobody has the MESA cloth. MESA must get it somewhere too?

Anyway, not my problem anymore. Just still bugs me.
