I would just pay the $240 to mesa for a new foot switch, seems to be a fair price for what it is, and no telling what kind of condition a used one would be in.
Yep, but with shipping & tax it ends up being $275. I'd like to see if I can find one for less, but they do seem to be few & far between so I may bite the bullet.

You might find one on eBay, but that does not happen very often. The only time you see one for sale is if someone had a disaster and the amp was destroyed, stolen or something of that nature. And the footswitch is just something that happened to be salvaged.
What I might suggest if you have any plans of going midi in the future jump the gun and just go for a

If you already own a midi pedal board of some kind, this would be cheaper than buying a FU-3 footswitch from Mesa
