Lonestar????

Hi....just got myself a Lonestar 1x12 in Bronco Blue with the 100/50 watt selection....what type of Lonestar is this, is it Classic etc, etc???..new to this amp which sounds incredible!

That's a Classic. If it doesn't have the 10 watt option then it's one of the earlier versions, which are supposed to be more desirable. Congrats on the new amp :mrgreen:

I just retubed mine with a standard JJ tube set from Eurotubes and the amp sounds much better than with the stock Mesa tubes. Could be that my Mesa tubes where shot and needed changing but I am happy with the JJ set.

Don't use EL34s unless you have a very good tech, or access to Mesa. I did in mine - they ran so hot, they melted the plate resistors. Tech replaced with larger resistors - bad idea - ran so hot, the solder melted and the resistors fell out!

Advice from Mesa was "Use 6L6 power tubes."

Other than that - great amp. Love mine.

My LSC has been running on =C= 34's since I bought it, and been fine. I get my valves from Watford Valves calibrated to run within the Mesa bias range, and have done for years in all the Mesa's I've owned. Never had a problem

I used JJ E34Ls (a version of EL34s) from Eurotubes for awhile and never had any problem with overheating. Eurotubes will match tubes to specific amps and if you look at their website you will find the Lonestar listed. I just called them though and gave them all the information. Great customer service.

I went back to 6L6s, not because of heat issues, but because you will note that these amps are hugely mid heavy, which might be just what you want for the Strats it appears you play, but it becomes a challenge for guitars like Les Pauls. The EL34s just seemed to compound an overwhelming issue.
