Lonestar special/ Vox?

Given that the special uses el84's, can it get close to any Vox tones? I have no experiences with Vox. Thanks

It sounds like a rocked up Fender. The EL84s give it a bit of a Brit vibe, but I'd say it's more in the Fender camp than the Vox camp.

Yeah, agreed. The LSS is a darker amp so it sounds more Blackface Fender in the clean department than Vox to me. Even with the Celestion Blues I am using, it doesn't have the sparkle of a Vox.

Yeah agree. I love the Vox but not the weight. I had a Lovepedal Englishman for 2 minutes to try and capture some Vox magic. It did not work with the LSS. It did make it sound like a Vox but with the highs dimmed and the bass on full. Was very odd as it was a fantastic pedal through other amps gave a real Vox chime.
