Lone Star Special Drive...HELP!

i've got a 1x12 LSS...

the clean is super

but the drive channel's distortion sounds fuzzy and farty...i've changed V1 and V2 with only minimal improvement...and it doesn't seem to matter whether the drive is up and gain down, or the oppposite...channel 2 just doesn't overdrive smoothly

on my dual rec, i changed the V1 at that made all the difference in the world ( and i'm not trying to make the LSS sound like the rec)

also, when running the amp at 5 watts, and trying to overdrive the power amp, it sound farty...not smooth at all...this is with the the preamp gain less than 12, the master for channel 1 down, the the "outPUT" cranked

the amp was a special order...the one i has auditioned did not sound so farty....

any thoughts or suggestion???

Did you:

1) Read the manual - this is important in dialing the LSS in
2) Start with the manuals suggested settings
