I just ordered my King of Tone. Finally got to the top of the list! V.4 with regular gain on both sides, no options.

Is anyone using this pedal with a Mesa Express? I have a 5:50 1x12 and a 5:25 1x10. Both sound fantastic with a Timmy or a Maxon OD9. The KOT, if it sticks around, will replace the OD9 most likely. The Timmy is used these days to shape the tone of the bridge pickup to simulate a humbucker, so I need a good boost and drive option (the OD9 is just a boost right now).

My KoT arrived 2-3 weeks ago. Kicked my TS-9 silver off my board. I got the same options as you noted and use it on my 5:25 (non-plus). I am loving it. Super clear. Yellow side - cleanish boost, Red side set for distortion.

My 5:25 is a monster with the KoT. I never wanted a KoT and signed up on the waiting list... "just because".... I think you will love the combination. I literally have 6 different gains (various combo) with the (2) KoT swithces and the 2 channels. This is without the burn/crunch switches.

The KoT, for me, is really KING. No other drive pedals are on my curent board. I think you will like it.

Please post your thoughts once you start pushing air.

Awesome - thanks! I also got on the waiting list "just because." I figured everyone is buying them for $350.00 on fleabay and TGP, so it can't hurt to get one because I can flip it for a profit if I don't like it.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to get it until tomorrow due to mail issues (they delivered it, but our mail pickup for my office had already come and gone). That means I won't be able to actually try it out until, at latest, late tomorrow night. Wednesday at the worst.

I'm on pins and needles. It almost cannot live up to the hype and expectations at this point.

Oh Yeah!

I am not one for gushing over gear, and pedals - less so.

But as for the KoT, I am pretty happy at the way it complements my 5:25, in all modes, power selection or channel.

Other thoughts:
- If you love your amp , the KoT can make it even better.
- While generally improving tone, it will rarely redeem an otherwise dissatisfying tone. One must address the amp/guitar/pickup/touch thing first.
- Develop a base tone and this thing deserves its rep.
- It expands the tonal pallet of my 5:25 - 6 gain structures at my foot, with 3 switches. 24 total with the selectable power modes. The pluses have 36, not including the GEQ or Contour

I like it so far. Very interesting pedal. I thought it might kick my Maxon OD9 off the board, but it actually kicked the Timmy off instead. I have it on the factory setting (OD red, boost yellow). I like the distortion mode and both sides set for boost, but the OD > boost worked best for my use. It stacks really well, especially with the OD9. Because the boost is noncompressed, it doesn't thin out the tone of the OD9 like a second Tubescreamer might. They play really well together.

I'm happy with it so far. I went ahead and velcro'd it to the board last night. It's a keeper, at least for the present time.

I have only tested it with the 5:50. I'll try it through the 5:25 and the Deluxe Reverb soon.
