So, I've had my Express 5:50 1x12 for 2 years now. Sadly, its mostly been used in my 3rd bedroom for low volume jamming at home and recording. I got to rehearse with my 5:50 with my old band only a couple of times right after I purchased the 5:50 before the band broke up. At that point, I was a new owner and hadn't found my tone.

Recently I've been jamming with a few friends in this huge *** barn and am really getting a chance to open her up. And I have got to say, HOLY ****! I LOVE this freakin amp. I play with a Gibson Explorer with its stock 498R in the neck and 500T in the bridge. My tone is something I've only dreamed of in years past. It cuts through so easily. I love how incredibly responsive the gain is to the shifts in my playing style. The amp has made me a better player. :)

I run the 1st channel in Crunch mode with the gain at 9:00, treble at 11:00, mids at 10:00, bass at 1:30, and contour at 11:00. This gives me a nice furry clean tone that cleans up with a roll back on my guitars volume.

Channel 2 is on Burn with Gain at 12:30, Treble at 12:00, mids at 10:00ish, bass at 9:00, and contour at 12:30. Great crunch and lead tone with my 500T pickup, cuts through like crazy.

I just though I would share my joy :)

Happy for you man! What genre of music do you play? Have you experimented some more with you amp settings to see how far you can push the boundaries in the barn?

Oh yeah. We've jammed 4 times now and I've been trying different things each time. This is what works for me at the moment.

We are playing rock, somewhat progressive with a mix of Foo Fighters-ish stuff. Wow, does that make sense, lol.

I too discovered how awesome the 5:50 sounds when opened up. I finally got to get on the amp in 50 watt mode at an outdoor gig and I was grinnin' ear to ear.

I am not in a band and about 90% of the time I play by myself at home. I’m fortunate that I have a very big house on a nice big piece of property so neighbors aren’t a factor. I keep my 5:50 dimed out in the 5W setting. However, every once in a while I drag my amp down to the industrial warehouse building my brother owns, set up my half-stack and pretend I’m Jimmy Page, Jimmy Hendrix, Keith Richards, Pete Townsend, EVH, Tony Iommi and Buddy Guy all rolled into one! I'm not that good by after some Patron Silver, I rock! I love playing in the 50W mode with the amp B@!!s to the wall. It makes the 4x12 Stiletto cab come to life!

That's the next thing I want to do. My next door neighbor has a 4x12 Recto cab that I so badly want to borrow for a jam session :)

Wish I had a neighbour with some nice gear like that... In fact I only really see my neighbours when they want to borrow my trailer.
