Hi All,

I've just got in from band practice and boy what a night. Everything seemed to click into place. I play in a covers band and everything was spot on tonight. After one of the songs I was just noodling and realised that I was noodling the intro to Fleetwood Mac's "Need Your Love So Bad". The rest of the band realised as well and suggested why don't we try it. The other guitarist knew the chords, singer knew the words, so we thought "why not?".

WOW!!! First play through, couple of mistakes on the chords, but what a revelation. It's the first time I've felt comfortable playing lead and my fingers just seemed to know where to go. I deliberately didn't overplay and it felt like pure magic. I've never played like that, my guitar tone was out of this world and I had that cool goose-bumpy feeling while we were playing it. We played it a couple more times after that and every one was the same.

I was using my '52 Re-Issue Tele into my Mesa Boogie LoneStar Special on the clean channel. In front I used a Keeley Katana and a Keeley BD-2, in the loop was my trusty DL-4. I've got a 4-way switch and had it on the both pups in parallel slot.

My rig has never sounded so good! Makes all the buggering about really worthwhile for a moment like that. Man, does that LSS sing!

Anyway, thought I'd share as I am buzzing!!!

Hi Simon, I know what your saying. When I got my LSS the whole sound of the band just improved considerably! First night I used it I got a round of applause from the rest of the band, and as you say- the sound just lends itself to some styles of songs which just suddenly leap out of your guitar and make you think "ah that's a good one we could do"! Also the versitilty is what I really like about the Lonestar.

Yep. When it all clicks like that, everything just seems to play itself. Simon, thanks for sharing.

I too had one of those "aha!" moments with my Lonestar last Friday, everything just clicked so perfectly! The Lonestar rules!

And the whole reason we all play and trade out gear like crazy people! It's a great feeling when your gear and playing line up like the planets are in line and the stars are rotating around you. Gotta love it!

I'd love to have a Lonestar one day... Very magical amps...

+1. Lonestars are magical, and have a unique and special voice. I predict these will be as historically signifcant to Mesa as the C+.

I couldn't agree more. The LoneStar Special is a future classic. I keep meaning to get my mits on a LoneStar Classic, just to see how different they are. I've read plenty on here and other forums (TGP) about how good they both are. I've got the LSS and couldn't agree more with most of the stuff I've read. I will have to try a classic out first hand...

Lonestars are one of those amps that make the statement "The amp almost plays itself" actually make sense.

I have some great sounding amps, some of which you have to fight for every bit of tone you get out of it. The Lonestar on the otherhand just seems to play itself... no fighting, no wresting... every note just kinda comes out of it sounding excellent.

Hi,

I can't remember my settings off the top of my head I'm afraid. Since then, I've switched to using Evidence Audio Lyric HG cables and had to completely re-EQ the settings on the amp. Unfortunately, I doubt my current settings will be much use as they are completely different to how they used to be before the cable switch.

I think there's another one of my posts that has got my settings from a little while ago, which should get you in the ball park of where it would have been.

Thanks,

Simon
