Throw a TS out front, and the thing turns to liquid. It saturates much more readily than a Dual. I think the metal band will be cutting leads through this thing, since it's so easy to push the thing hard.

This makes me want to have one even more! :mrgreen:
 
Just chiming in as a proud owner of a Mini rec, serial # 72 :)

Coming from a Marshall DSL 401 combo and DSL 50 head, this litte sucker is a breath of fresh air in both its versatility and tone.

Plugged it into a bunch of cabs already and it really seems to get along great with closed-back 2x12 V30 loaded cabs, especially the Recto 2x12.

Cranking up the gain to 3 oclock in Ch 1's pushed mode, 10watts and master between noon and 2 oclock, this thing just purrs with some gorgeous overtone-filled classic rock tones. Note separation is clear and articulate without being overly compressed. El-84's are a real turn on to me these days since they seem to get pushed significantly easier than their El-34 bigger brethren.

This amp is the first I buy that really satisfies my quest for tone and versatility, and this is after having quite a bit of "knob" time with all forms of Recto's including the great backbreaker Road King 2x12 and the oddball Trem-o-verb. I was originally shopping for used ENGL Powerball 2 or a 3-channel Dual Rec until this little beast was announced and I really do not regret plunking down my hard earned coin for a brand new amp (I've always been a purveyor of buying used amps). It may be more expensive than other lunchbox-style amps but it really comes with all of the soul and gain that Mesa is known for and is capable of keeping up with even the heaviest-handed of drummers.

Did I mention that it was versatile as all hell? Clapton cleans, Chilli Pepper spank, SRV screaming Blues, Santana liquid leads, browned out Van Halen licks and complex-chord-laden Opeth riffs all jump out with a beautiful clarity that I haven't ever felt coming out of one single amp.

Gripes?

Lack of reverb and Tolex protection for the head, maybe a footswtich to change between the 2 different voicings per channel, but these things are minor cases of being a spoiled gear brat.
