Somebody on here did a matchup between an actual iic+ and the markv iic+ and took a picture of both of the amp's settings and eq. I remember the eq on the V the bass freq were boosted way more than the iic+ and someone commented something like the iic+ had way more room to add more bass where the V was pretty much tapped out.

Sorry, to post a new thread for this, but I just can't find it and I've searched and searched.

Anyone remember where this is?

Thanks in advance!

That's the one. Thanks! Good on you btw for making the comparison - I'm sure it was a blast!

we spent a day playing around with tubes on shootout number two-we blended 6L6's and El-34's...we experimented with some $$ bottles, but we really did some fine tuning with El-34's-I left the Joey B. Boogie Palace with a few 34's in tow,and I really like what we came out with-I have tried a variety of preamp tubes as well lately, and I am all over a GT 12ax7-M in v1,btw-a little more of a meaty growl-look at this thread, bottom of page 2..-page 3 for more detailed info

btw, I played the $%#* out of the V a few nights ago-10 watt/tweed/variac dimed to hell and back(for hours..!)-the orange paint on the Groove Tubes got so hot it turned brown and the whole room smelled like....victory 8) ...it was abuse, and the amp was ready to go the next session,FWIW

Page 2 of this thread http://forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=37145&start=15 has some neat settings that were found using a blend of 6L6 and EL-34 power tubes (6L6 bias setting). The last picture was taken after I had swapped the 6L6's back into the middle sockets. The 10 watt rampage that "lesterpaul" spoke of was using a quad of GT EL-34M's, BTW.

Ok, just got to try these settings out. I must say that this amp can SING! I tried it with my Lp std and my jackson emg81 bridge and WOW! Around were I live, a iic+ is next to impossible to find and try so if this is close to the real thing, I'm glad I tried this out. I love your mark 1 setting w/o the eq - it's so smooth and creamy and good low end. I do find the iic+ a little harsh and but really enjoy it if I leave the same settings and switch to IV and pentode.

The feedback is outrageous tho with both axes.

Good job!

sweet...glad you like-MMv, so you may want to ease up on the overall volume, back away from amp, stand to side,etc...I have played around with different preamp tubes in v1 in order to tame that harshness-I am diggin' a GT 12ax7-M,but good luck finding some!when we dialed in the MK 1(Joey B. owned a MK 1 for yrs,so he found the sweet spot in .00002 seconds...),everybody adjusted their pants for the good time dance :)
