Just unwrapped my new combo. I've read just about every post here and would like to thank everyone for the info. I'll post pics and maybe some mp3s soon. Moving from a Crate Vintage club this should be quite a step up.

Thanks again.

I noticed when taking off the plastic tube coverings that one of the 6L6 tubes was quite a bit shorter than the other 3 (Far right when looking from the back). Is this normal? I made sure they were all inserted fully. I think I hurt my shoulder lifting this thing.

Thanks,
HLavicky

Yup....tubes aren't always the same size...no problem there.

Enjoy it! It's an amazing amp!

Ibanez...WTF are you talking about? The power tubes should be a matched set if they are all 6L6's.

Huh?

matching power tubes has to do with current draw not how tall they are........

I think he is making a visual statement as to the size of the bottle itself. Not only are they not all in perfecty matched glass bottles, sometimes the glass is blown at an angle or even with a kink in it. How they match on current draw is completely different.

What do you know about blowing glass?

:D

You are correct, The question was physical length.

Here's my new amp. Makes me proud to be American.

Sad Story: I found a guitar in a garage when I was 16. The owner said I could have it since no one in his family played guitar anymore. It said Les Paul Jr. and I wanted a real Les Paul. So of course, I scratched "Junior" off of the headstock. Then I didn't like the color so I sanded it down and had it painted metallic purple. I went to a plastic store and had a pick guard made of some mirrored plastic. I cut out the letters E M and G from a sticker and put them on the P-90.

I am told that the guitar is a 57 Les Paul Junior that would sell for upwards of 10 Grand if I hadn't altered it. Gibson says they can restore it for around 1500.00. I just thought you guys might get a kick out of a dimwit making probably the only purple 57 les paul jr.

For what its worth about the Les Paul, I think its actually very cool looking, minus the EMG sticker. Live and learn I guess.

Thanks, guys. It still sounds and plays great. I would remove the sticker but it makes me laugh that I did that when I was young. I was (still am I guess) a big Kirk hammett fan around '87 or so. I'm now 38. I have lots of other guitars too. I'll post if anyone wants to see them.

The list:

Gibson -
1957 Les Paul Jr.
2002 Les Paul Gothic
2007 Les Paul Standard (cherry sunburst)
2005 Explorer Voodoo

BC Rich (cheapo guitars not the real ones)
Mockingbird Bronze (Had professionally painted with flip flop flames)
Rave II Warlock. Installed EMG 81 and Floyd copy (routed underneath to allow for pull up.)

Jackson Dinky Reverse Headstock (Black EMG SA-SA-81)

Fender -
Standard Fat Strat (sage metallic maple fretboard)
Standard Tele (midnight wine maple fretboard)
Roland Ready Strat with VG8EX (Olympic White, Rosewood)

Ibanez -
RG550 I think (Black, maple fretboard Wizard Pro, Dimarzio Evo PUs)
SoundGear Base (Blue P/J PU)

Cheap Jasmine Acoustic

Amps:
Crate Vintage Club VC30112
Crate DX 30watt SS
Vox AD15VT (actually a great sounding amp)
Brand new Mesa Boogie Mark IV Compact Combo (I've been spending way to much on guitars and not enough on amps.)

Recording:
Mac with Logic 7
M-Audio Delta 66
Mackie Board
Pod Xt
Roland XP-30 Keyboard
Zoom Drum Machine
Drums on Demand Loops

oh and a cool green lava lamp :)
