As of Jul 13th, John Petrucci's website, http://www.johnpetrucci.com published his official MARK V Settings!!!!!
There are two sets of images for Mark V ...(all three channels + Graphic EQ)

You can find them at the bottom of the page here at: http://www.johnpetrucci.com/gear.htm

Just tried out his first set of patches (EQ WAS THE BOMB) ..the subtle changes..in my V shaped EQ + his Channel 3 Mode settings brought out the monster in the MARK V!!!

Keep his Channel Master Volume on..and use the FX Loop OUTPUT Volume to modify the overal playability according to your sound restrictions....

Guess..I found my "trip" for the weekend!
Enjoy fellas!

i noticed, though, that he doesn't use the iic+ setting at all. i wonder why...

It must be the lack of the sub-lows that he is used to hearing in his DRG Mark IIC+ amps  . These are present in the Mark IV setting of his new amps. 8)

:?: What exactly does that mean? Channel Master Vol Dimed?

It means that using his exact settings means you are playing 'loud as hell' and that you can control the volume using the fx level in the back of the amp.

So totally have to try these out! I don't use extreme much so it should crazy times!

I think that is really cool for an artist to share their settings. Most artist never show them or "hide" them form the public as they don't want anyone copying their tone. Cheers Petrucci! I can't wait to try out the Extreme mode with those EQ slider settings when I can. I never use that mode; just the Mark IV mode for rhythm chug. Also will try his Mark IV mode settings. Wonder....dumb question. I take it he blends those two separate amps?

I tried those settings out. Good stuff, for sure. I especially like how he has his graphic EQ.

Sorry for the ambiguity caused...

I meant...use his channel master volumes as is, but change the OUTPUT volume on the front. I discovered that this helps retain the balls in the tone even at late night practice volumes....getting to know my Mesa over time.

I dont know, maybe those settings work great on stage in the mix, but for a solo and home volume playing, sound terrible! the first thing I would say is: lacking balls

well..I use to scoop a little bit than those settings, and maybe more gainy..but the next one I´ll give this a chance to see how it works cause I didnt have the chance to gig with them so I´ll post some feedback soon

the settings do really open up the amp..but only if you're going to be pushing the amp...its not going to work in 10W settings. Push the wattage rating up to 90W(45 W will do too), and then control the volume using the Output Knob ...you have his sound..(assuming you're running it through celestion v30's).

If it still doesn't work...try what I did...shift to the Mark Morton's eq using John Petrucci's channel 3 settings..and then..all hell breaks loose. FYI, Mark Morton uses a sorta skewed N setting on this graphic eq.....lot more midsy.

Could you post a pic of what that EQ setting looks like? I'd be interested in seeing that.

Sitting at work, this is the best I can do..hope this helps
The last two sliders on the right are a little higher than the 750 slider
But I'm going to have to mention, that I find John Petrucci's EQ works great for just about everything I play.
I flip to the N shape once in a while to get away from the standard V Eq voicing on Channel 3.

man, those channel 3 settings on the extreme mode are awesome! such a nice balance and fullness to the sound. enough bass but not flubby, very tight crunchy brightness. w00t!

If you look now, there are also some settings for Mark I mode and Mark IV mode.

came home, dialied in the Mark V to the ch. 3 extreme settings,
played for 30 seconds, and pop.
blew a tube.

hadn't turned it up as loud as those settings have the output on since swapping tubes...

so now i'm wondering if it is a problem with the amp, or problem with the tubes.

I've never had much problem with EL34's before.

not very happy right now.
